James proceeded to click his tongue against the roof of his mouth, making that odd and unique noise.

"C'mon, pick up! Damn phone... Sh*t." Only a second later, the phone clicked suddenly, playing Kevin's message and ending with "leave your message at the beep." Saying nothing, James hung up the phone that he had used to dial Kevin's apartment. Kevin would be confused when checked the messages, that's for sure.

James sighed, swearing softly and sliding into a seat. It was a sorrowful shame that Hox lacked skills in speech. He held a hand to his head, heavily huffing again. What in the world would he do? What COULD he do that wasn't insane? He racked his brain for answers, finding, as usual, none. Out of ideas, James poked fun at himself.

"Ey, Kevin, I called you because I wanted to F*CKING TALK TO YOUR CAT." Really, that would have been idiotic. James suddenly had an epiphany. He would have to be more... discreet in contacting Hox.

James quickly found himself at Kevin's apartment. The plan was still insane, but less so than his other ideas. Here goes nothing. He clicked his tongue several times. Then he waited half a minute. He did so again, and finally dared to utter a word.

"Err... Hox?"

At this, a dark and fluffy shape leapt out of the window into James' arms. He was so surprised that he stumbled back a few steps, but broke into a grin in a second and clutched the cat closer.

"My sweet prince! Were you waiting for me, you little sh*t?" Hox began nuzzling James' face. James was too happy for any more words. He was also surprised that Hox had loved him too.

"Now, you g*ddamn cat. Do you really, really love me? Like... Not like a cat loves a human. Like how two beings love each other."

Hox was still nuzzling James, not giving any response. He looked into the gamer's eyes after a moment, meowing softly and blinking.

James stroked the cat softly, chuckling. "You little b*stard." He was still happy, of course. Oh yes, he was overjoyed. The fluffy cat cradled in his arms made that only so much better. There was a doubt in James' mind, though, and it hovered like an unwanted pest. He couldn't shoo it away, and it was tainting his happiness.

Can cats, after all, fall in love with humans?
