"Jay, this isn't the hotel." I insisted as his car pulled to a stop in a motel's parking lot.
"Ali, we had to leave once you left. Tim knows where I'm at, I already called him and told him." Jay said looking back. "Your stuff is inside my room, including those few tapes you have." he said calmly, though he looked at me in the rearview mirror with a concerned look on his face.
"You went through my stuff?" I asked, not shocked. I was more surprised that he or Tim hadn't done it sooner.
"No. The few you had fell out of your sweatshirt pocket when we picked it up. You weren't lying-" he paused, taking a deep breath. "Alex really is your brother." He gave me a look that was mostly concerned, but I swear there was a flash of worry or distrust in his eyes.
"You thought I would lie about that... I remember him as a little kid, but not much after that. A few of him in college, and of helping him pick the cast. Since not many people tried out it wasn't hard to choose." I muttered the last part, looking at my feet. "He doesn't seem to remember me, though, and he got really mad when you called my name."
"I wonder why, considering he's literally hunting me."Jay stated sarcastically. "And now that you're twisted into this, he's probably hunting you along with us." he added, shutting off the car. He opened his door and I sat up, realizing I should probably follow him.
"J-Jay wait up!" I called, waving my hands after I'd gotten out. He was already up by a door, messing with a key. "Don't leave me out here!"
"I wasn't planning on it, Ali. Now get in here before someone calls the cops for a disturbance or something. That's all we need, cops on us, too." He muttered the last part, but I could hear it as I took a few steps towards him, trying not to look hurt.
Spraining my ankle was a usual occurrence, so I knew I had a brace somewhere in my stuff. The only thing was, I couldn't make Jay worry about me too much. He was already head over heels for Jessica, anyway. I could tell from the entries they made me watch. I didn't need him worried about me, too.
"I'm right here, Jay. No need to get your pants all in a bunched up in a knot." I muttered as he opened the door for me to walk in. I noticed my few things right away, all placed in a corner beside the bed. I swore I heard him laugh at my comment as I went to grab my clothes.
"Go ahead and get washed up, Ali. I'm going to call Tim and tell him that I found you." He said, sitting on the bed as I pulled out a grey T-shirt, my blue hoodie, and a pair of clean pants from one of the bags. "I'm sure either he's looking for you, or he's at least a little worried about why he can't find you."
"Ya, he was looking for me, and then turns out you're in the right space at the right time." I said. "Who knows what would have happened if you didn't help me get out of there." I'm not sure what came over me, but I placed a quick kiss on his cheek and ran off, blushing a deep red. I shut the bathroom door and locked it behind me as i covered my face. 'D-Did I just... no, why would I have done that?' I thought, mentally slapping myself. 'It was just a quick peck on the cheek, right... nothing too big, or to show any affection- which I clearly dont have.' ((STOP LYING TO YOURSELF ALI AND ADMIT JALI ALREADY!!!)) ((XD *Dodger voice* I ship it.))
Quickly, and eager to get rid of those clothes, I stripped down and placed myself under the warm water that I had started soon after mentally slapping myself back to reality. The water beneath me ran a nasty shade of red and black as I washed away all the dried blood. Walking out, I felt like an all new person. The only thing was that my glasses were gone, so I would have to try and find my box of contacts if I wanted to see too far away. With my new clothes on, I walked out to see Jay talking on the phone with, I guessed, Tim. I stayed quiet, hoping he wouldn't hear me, and acted like I was invisible.
"Yeah, she's here, Tim. I found her running through Rosswood." He said with a nod. I got the indication that he was talking about me and listened in. "W-what do you mean...?" He asked with a slight stammer. His face grew bright pink as a blush spread across it. "Tim, no! Shut up!" he whispered loudly. His face was a bright blush and I felt myself smile a little.
"'Tim shut up' what?" I asked, startling him. I saw him jump up and turn around to look at me. If his face could get any redder I'd swear he was a tomato. His mouth gaped open like a fish as I let out a laugh. "Come on, Jay, just tell me."
"It's nothing, Ali. Tim's just being... Tim right now." he said, shaking his head and hanging up the phone.
"Yeah, sure, and I'm a monkey's uncle." I said, crossing my arms with yet another small laugh. "Jay, it's not like I bite or anything. You can tell me; after all, I am going to help you find Jessica." I reminded him. He nodded then looked at me, his face still a bright shade of red from when I'd startled him. "Jay, come on, tell me." I begged playfully with a smile, taking one of his hands.
I'm not sure what must have came over him, because next thing I knew he had pulled me into a hug and kissed me. It was only a peck, but he still had kissed me. My free hand went up to my lips, my fingertips touching them lightly as I stared, not believing what had just happened. I opened my mouth to say something, but before a word could come out, I heard Tim's voice. "What did I just walk into, Jay?"
