It was late at night and we all had decided to stay at the hotel. Tim had fallen asleep on the floor and Jay lay asleep in the bed. Nora was asleep in a really comfortable looking chair. Originally, I had tried falling asleep on the bed- but Jay must have gotten in soon after I did, and I now found myself pushed onto the floor in my sleep. "Ouch..." I muttered, rubbing my head. "You're definitely a bed hog, Jay." Nora blinked awake for a few moments, then, realizing the noise had just been me hitting the ground, quickly fell back asleep. I rolled my eyes with a soft chuckle at Nora's reaction, then got up, careful not to step on anyone or hit anything that would be too loud.
My quiet steps and the eerie silence of sleeping people made me uncomfortable. It was too quiet, even for me. Well, all besides the occasional snore from either Tim or Jay; both were snoring softly. I moved towards the window, looking outside. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary- it was just a quiet night.
My hands shook a bit as I looked through my things. I found my camera- dead of course- and my laptop, along with the small bottle of pills that I always had with me in case I started to black out again. I took one of the small pills without water or anything and plugged my camera into my laptop, seeing if maybe I could find any clues as to what happened when I blacked out; or even why I did.
Luckily for me, I found the video, which was almost entirely laced with some kind of static,- it was especially strong right before I started coughing and throughout the entirety of my fit. I rubbed my head, not getting any answers as the footage skipped from me on the floor and a bunch of static to me out of the room and Jay walking into my room with Tim, calling my name.
"I couldn't just disappear, could I?" I asked myself out loud, watching the footage again. I searched for anything that could have led to a clue. I heard a sudden ding from my phone, recognizing it as the tone for a new Youtube upload. It wasn't mine, and I was only subscribed to Marble Hornets and TotheArk- since they seemed to be tied together.
Sure enough, it was from totheark. The video started with a blurred out picture of me on the floor during my coughing fit. "Look familiar?" the text read. "He's waiting, Always Watching." The image suddenly switched to me on the ground, in the woods, covered in blood. It was right before I had awoken. "You're not alone." Some numbers and symbols quickly flashed on the screen, and then the video was over.
I looked around, keeping the video up so I could rewatch it if I needed to. Slowly and carefully, I went over to where Jay was asleep. I nudged him, hoping that he would wake up. Though I knew he needed sleep, he also needed to see this.
"Go away, I'm sleeping." he complained with his eyes shut as he pulled the blankets tighter around himself.
"Jay, you pushed me off the bed. Get up, something happened." I whispered, trying not to wake Tim, who would definitely be grouchy, or Nora ,who- to be honest- kinda scared me; I didn't want to be on her bad side. "You need to see this before it goes away. That way I know that I'm not crazy."
"Ali, you're acting crazy." he muttered, looking at me sleepily. I honestly was beginning to feel bad for waking him up. He sighed softly. "What's wrong." I was glad my laptop's dimness was all the way down as I flipped it around.
"Your 'friend' is posting videos about me." I stated, trying to act calm. He looked at it then to me, his eyes widening slightly as he began to wake up fully. "I don't like it, Jay." I murmured quietly, worried about who this person was. "How did they get this video, or footage of me at all?"
Jay shrugged. "They're just stalker people, Ali." he soothed, looking at me and trying to calm my racing heart and mind. If I didn't even see who it was, how did I know they weren't watching us right now.? "Alexsis." I looked at him. His steady, confident voice and determined face calmed me down, though I could only see him by the light of my laptop. "No one is going to hurt you, Ali. As long as I'm here, I won't let them hurt you."
I nodded as he moved over some. I was still shaken up as I laid down on the bed, but Jay's words had calmed me down enough to suffice for the time being. He placed a pillow between us. "What's the pillow for?" I joked, looking at him.
"In case Tim wakes up and wants to find something to pick on one of us about." He muttered, jerking his head in the general direction of Tim's sleeping form before getting comfortable. "Now get some sleep, Ali. It's healthy to get that."
I nodded and closed my eyes, trying to fall asleep. I heard Jay shift slightly, then his breathing began to slow. I gave a soft sigh and nodded, wanting to fall asleep- but there were too many questions rolling through my mind at the moment to really do that. I needed answers, and it bugged me that I didn't have them. "Sleep, Ali." I heard Jay mutter. I was sure he was talking in his sleep. I smiled, curling close to the young man, and nodded. I closed my eyes yet again and gave a sigh before I gave way to sleep.
