"Were have you been?" Caroline asked as she put the roast in the oven and looked up to see her brothers angry face. "What happened?" Caroline asked instinctively on edge.

"Nothing, that damn minx." He growled and clenched his hands into fist at his side.

"Who?" Caroline demanded exasperatedly. Realizing this wasn't a life or death situation and calmed down instantly with a sigh.

"My mate." Cedric growled and leaned against the counter and grabbed his sisters glass of wine to take one long pull.

"Who!?" His sister finally exploded. "You found her?" She asked and stared up at her sibling in awe. "Who is it?" She demanded and grabbed his arm.

"She rejected us." He snarled. "Told me that we couldn't be together." Cedric said quietly and Caro waited patiently for him to continue. She had never seen him this worked up, this shaken. "The worst part is that she was so soft spoken and I couldn't even... She kissed me." Cedric muttered softly and rubbed a hand across his eyes. He was restless and it wouldn't stop until her had her again.

"She knows about us?" Caroline wondered. "Is she a member of our pack?" She nearly jumped with delight but then stopped. This woman had rejected her brother, she was dearly mistaken if she thought that she was going to get by with that. "She kissed you. That has to be some kind of step... Right?" His sister asked hesitantly.

"It meant goodby, Caroline." Cedric said closed his eyes briefly.

"Damnit, Cedric. Who the hell was it!" Caroline exploded.

"Amelia." He said exasperated and looked into his sisters beseeching eyes that were furrowed in confusion.

"A human?" Caroline asked disbelieving but he was done. He went left, needing to be alone to plot his next move in capturing the elusive soon to be Misses. Even though her dear older brother may just want to sit a stew over the girl. Caroline was not going to stand for this. She looked at the clock before grabbing the keys to her silver honda and left.

Amelia heard the tentative knock at her door and set down the book she finally had gotten back to reading. Her eyed wandered over the the silver car that was parked were earlier a similar black car that had been there not even an hour ago. Quietly she opened the door deciding that the coast was clear and saw the tall leggy honey colored blonde on her doorstep that looked a lot like Cedric.

"Can I help you Ms. Haaland?" Caroline was shocked to here the soft sweet tone of the small porcelain doll in front of herself. She was so different than her brother, were he was tall and muscled she was tiny and slight and were he was cocky and loud she was sweet and soft spoken.

"Yes, actually you can." Caroline began and frowned. She had expected this girl to slam the door or at least be bitchy but this Amelia character didn't seem to have a mean bone in her body.

"Would you like to come in? I just made some iced tea." She opened the screen door and help it open for Caro and she looked at the small angel in front of herself.

"I would, thank you." Cedric's sister stepped hesitantly inside of the large victorian home and toed off her shoes before following that silent women to the spacious kitchen and handed her the glass.

"Its my pleasure." Amelia smiled and gestured for Caroline to sit at the bar. "How is Sarah doing?" She asked and protectively crossed her arms. Making her look fragile and in need of a good hug.

"She's fine. A little rough around the edges but shes getting there." Caroline looked down at her hand and felt guilty at the bad thoughts she was having about this creature but she did feel angry at the girl for hurting her brother.

"Thats to be expected, I would be more surprised if she wasn't. How are you? I know that you were close with them to." Caroline glanced up, startled. She felt her soft hand on her arm. "I'm sorry for your loss as well." Car let her blue eyes meet her wide grey eyes that calmed her.

"Thats not what I came here for but I appreciate your kindness." Caroline refused to back down and despite the girls fragile look Caro knew she had a core of steel.

"I suppose not. I am sorry for your brother as well." She said softly and pulled her hand away.

"Stop it. Stop that." Caroline cried.

"Stop what?" She frowned confused.

"Stop apologizing." Caro snapped and stood.

"I am sorry though." Sadness marred her face.

"Why? When you know perfectly well you can stop this?" Caroline had a point to get across.

"I would if I could." Amelia tried to make her see.

"You can! Just accept him!" She stood and took a threatening step towards her.

"You will thank me. Later when he is still alive." She whispered and the pain was gut wrenching to see but those words froze her to her bone.

"What are you talking about?" Caroline asked slightly desperate.

"I know that this is hurting him," Amelia's hand subconsciously went to her heart "But I'm honestly not doing this out of malice or attention seeking. I swear to you I am doing this is his best interest." She said softly.

"He can deal with whatever problems your having. Its his job!" Caro argued.

"I'm sure he could try but at what cost, Caroline?" Amelia asked with knowing eyes and Caroline was at lost for words. "You have not found your mate yet. Have you?" Mel asked and all she could do was shake her head. "When you find your mate. You will do anything in your power to protect him, even if you do not like what you have to do. You will do it to protect them." Mel spoke calmly but cringed when Caroline took a step forward and grabbed her small hand.

Caroline was at a loss but she opened her mouth to argue more but was interrupted by a ringing phone.

Amelia excused herself before she picked up the cellular device and answer it after stepping into the next room and allowed the words to sink in.

"Hello?" She answered.

"Amelia." The mans voice said angrily and she froze.

"Nathaniel?" Amelia asked but she knew it was him and her heart began to pound.

"Where are you?" He demanded.

"I'm not coming back." Amelia whispered and the tears filled her eyes.

"Nonsense. I have allowed you a month already to gather yourself but you are needed now." Nathan said in no arguing tone of voice.

"Why do you torment me?" She cried and muffled it.

"You were put on earth for a reason Amelia. Do not be so mundane." He reasoned, out of everyone he never would have thought his prodigy would be the one to fly off the handle.

"It hurts, Nathaniel. It hurts so much." She whispered and it dawned on him. Her gifts were emerging and he knew if her didn't get her back soon she would deteriorate.

"Little one, I wish to help you." He reasoned again but he knew that it was pointless.

"I need more time." She said finally and he felt that her emotional slip up was done. To say that it was strange to ever hear his prodigy being weak would be an underestimate.

"Of course but we cannot wait much longer pet." Nathaniel smiled. He knew that she was finally seeing reason and he wasnt sure that she never actually strayed.

"Two weeks." She said softly. "Two more weeks and I'll do what ever you say, Nathaniel." Amelia said in the same calm voice that never wavered. He expected that she would ask for more time but he was pleased to see that his little prodigy was coming back in full force.

"I will see you in two weeks time. Until then pet." Nathaniel said and hung up the phone and left her staring wordlessly at the device in her hand.

"Cedric, is not going to be pleased. " Amelia whipped around to see his sister standing in the doorway with narrowed eyes and walked to the front door before pausing. "Say goodbye your lover, Amelia. Expect Cedric to be by later to get you and your things." Caroline left two guards at her door and went to to find Cedric.
