Leave it to the bad boy

The boys babbled on about how much they hate the Soc. If you ask me, I think they're pretty terrible. I mean, who jumps people for fun?

"Hey, Dal, I see you got your ring" Steve said. I looked up.

"Yea, I know" Dallas replied. He got a sly smile on his face, while smoking his cigarette.

"Is it over for good this time?" He looked down and examined his ring, before answering Steve.

"Yea" he said. "Little broad two-timed me again, this time with Tim." He said it so casually, as if it happens everyday. What kind of people live here? Suddenly, I noticed the guys staring at me.

"You alright?" I nodded. Dallas chuckled and put out his smoke.

"You're probably wondering about what we're talking about, aren't ya?"

"N-not really" I replied. Yes. Actually, I was totally wondering what they were talking about. But, because of my shyness, I wasn't able to come out and say yes, I am wondering what y'all are talking about.

"Well, I don't know about y'all, but I'm starvin'" Two-Bit said.

"You're always hungry, Two-Bit" Soda piped up. I smiled at that. Then, Darry walked in, instantly turning to me.

"I see you've gotten comfortable already" he said. I blushed slightly and smiled a bit bigger. He turned to the guys. "So, who wants to go to the store and get me some groceries?"

"I will" Pony immediately responded.

"Nah, not this time, Pone. I don't want you getting hurt" Darry said.

"How bout if I go?"  He turned to Two-Bit, deciding if he should go or not.

"I don't want you stealing my money, again." I wanted to chuckle, but I held it back.

"I'll go" Dallas said, surprising everybody in the room. "What?"

"Last time I sent you some place with my money, you went to bucks and got drunk" Darry stated. Wow. Dallas seems.... nice?

"C'mon, Darry. This will probably be the only time I go willingly" Dallas replied.

"Okay, but take Jasmine with you." I was taken back. Me? Go with the bad boy? Darry turned to me. "Don't let him do anything stupid." I nodded and stood up off the couch, not wanting to go, but also not wanting to say no to Darry. He did take me in, though he knew that he didn't have to.

Dallas opened the door for me.

"Ladies first" he said, a flirtatious smile on his face.

"Then you go first, Dal" Steve teased. This time, I couldn't hold back that chuckle. But, it didn't matter. It was drowned out by the guy's laughter. I walked outside, Dallas right behind me. He closed the door before turning to face me, his hands stuffed into his pockets.

"So, you know where the store is?" I shook my head. He sighed. "Alright then, let's go." I followed Dallas as he led the way to the grocery store. If I'm going to be living here, then I'm gonna have to learn my way around. "Ay, where's your brother?" I looked down.

"Um, he's.... not.... here" I slowly replied, pausing a lot between my words.

"What do you mean by that?" I messed with my bracelets while trying to explain it, but not bring myself to tears.

"He's, er, gone" I stated. "H-he... died... in the crash with my parents." It fell silent between us. From the corner of my eye, I saw Dallas scratching the back of his head.

"Darry didn't tell us nothing" he said, breaking the short silence.

"He didn't?"

"Nah. We didn't even know you were coming" he said.

"Oh." It didn't really matter whether he told them or not. Actually, I could care less. Since I lost the thing most important to me, I slowly stopped caring. Again, this is a slow process. "Dallas, why is it so different here, then in other places?" I doubted that he would know.

"What do you mean?"

"Here, there's Soc and greaser... and in other places, there's none of that" I replied. He simply shrugged

"Hate to break it to ya, but you asked the wrong person." I sighed. This is so confusing. Not just this town, the whole world. Many things happen, things that ruin our lives, and for no particular reason. Though, my parents used to always tell me that God takes things away from us, so we can receive something better. But, why did he have to take away my family? What can possibly be better than my own family? The ones who have been there for me through thick and thin.

"Little broad." I looked up at Dallas, wondering if he was calling me. He wasn't. A girl was walking by and he tried getting her attention. Oh great. A player. Just perfect. The last thing I wanted, is to be around a player. All they do is break girls' hearts. And, the last thing I want to do, is get involved with one.
