Justin’s POV
My mom pulled me into a hug as she entered the house. This was a normal thing; every time she saw me when we still hadn’t found Blake, she would give me a huge hug. I think it was her way of coping but it only reminded me of the horrible situation.
“How are you, honey? Have you eaten anything today?” she asked, concerned as we walked into the kitchen. She glanced into the living room and saw the pillows and blankets laid out on one of the couches. She shot me a questioning look.
“I don’t want to sleep in our room anymore.” I replied, answering her silent question. For the past few days, I slept on the couch. I got at most 3 hours of sleep instead of the 1 I would get when I slept in the master bedroom. Everything reminded me of her and ever since her pillow lost her smell, I just couldn’t bare it anymore.
“Why don’t I make you something to eat? Grilled cheese ok?” my mom asked sweetly, distracting me from my gloomy thoughts. I kindly nodded and sat at one of the stools on the breakfast bar.
Blake’s POV
“I don’t understand. We get practically nothing to eat, yet you look like you’re gaining weight.” Naomi said weakly as we both picked at our piece of bread and water bottles, trying to conserve the only food we would get in a long time.
I placed my hand on my growing, pregnant stomach. I don’t know how far along I am since I never got the chance to go to the doctor, but I was somewhere between 3 and 4 months along. I was just starting to fill up a little and Naomi had noticed.
“Naomi, I have to tell you something.” I whispered, looking at the dirty ground. She scooted closer to me and wrapped her good arm around my body for comfort.
“What is it?” she asked soothingly.
“The day we were taken, I took a pregnancy test. Actually, I took 5. They were all positive.” I explained.
Naomi looked shocked. “What?”
“I was going to tell Justin that night, but I never got the chance.” I replied, looking down at the ground again.
“I’m so sorry, Blake. Here, have this.” She said while handing me her piece of bread. I quickly shook my head, not willing to take her only food from her. “Blake, you have to take it.”
“No, I’ll be fine.” I replied, trying to reassure myself as well.
The door at the top of the stairs opened, letting light into the dark basement. I shielded my eyes from it and Naomi unwrapped her arm around me but stayed close by my side. Brian walked down the stairs, carrying a large bottle of vodka. The smell made me want to throw up and I probably would have if I had food in my stomach.
“Hello ladies.” He smirked evilly. “So, I was thinking we could have some fun tonight! What do you think, Blake?” he asked.
“Please, no.” Naomi barely whispered as she cringed, waiting for the impact of talking back to Brian. He stayed put and just stared at her shaking body.
“For that, you can watch as Blake and I have fun.” He spat bitterly while taking a few steps towards me.
He took the cap off of the vodka bottle and took a long swing from it. After he swallowed, he grabbed my neck and hoisted me up to a standing position.
“Brian, please don’t-” Naomi started, knowing exactly what was going to happen. Brian laughed in my face before pulling on my hair and holding the bottle to my lips. I clamped down and didn’t let any of the alcohol into my system. I knew what it could do to my baby.
