"Andi, that...that was spectacular. You are extremely talented," Asher glorified, "Why did you stop? Your eyes gleamed with excitement when the flames burst into fireworks, then you stopped and all I could see was fear. You looked like you were disappointed with yourself. Why?"
"Asher," I say exhaling, "I have my reasons and I would like you to respect that. Now please, don't mention this, just show me your talent so we can get a decent grade for today."
Asher took his hands and spun them around each other forming snowflakes that stacked upon each other forming an incomprehensible shape, he then blew a sharp intense breath causing shapeless segments of ice to fall to the floor, until all that was left was an elegant rose made of ice and snow.
"For my dearest," Asher bowed, presenting me with the rose
"I...It's beautiful, b...but I can't accept this, Asher I'm sorry, I just don't want it to melt."
"But Andi, please take the rose. I don't care if it melts, call me crazy, but I want you to be the flakes of my snow, the frozen crystals that float down from the heavens," Asher speaks, taking hold of my hands, "I want you to be my guide through life, my fiery lantern through the harshly cold blizzard. Look past your fears and look into your heart. I know we just met, but ever since our first conversation on the bus I knew that I loved you. Andi, you said it yourself, our destinies were made to collide."
"Asher, I say angrily crossing my arms, "I was making conversation. don't try being poetic either, that won't fix it. bad things happen when I use my powers.things get out of control. People get hurt! People I care about and I don't want to hurt you because I really care about you, Asher! Just stay away from me like everyone else!
At this point I can feel the angered tears fall halfway down my face before turning into steam. I can't believe I turned away the only person that cared.
"No. I'm not going to stay away from you. I'm not like everyone else. I'm not afraid of you. Can't you see that?"
"T...t...trust m..me if y..you w..were h..here t..three y..ears ago, y..you w..wouldn't c..come n..near me," I stammer, "What happened was just too horrifying. I can't and I won't let history repeat itself."
"Explain to me why it's so horrifying. tell me why I should stay away from you and give me a good reason to stay away 'cause you haven't given me a good one yet."
Eyes full of tears, I turn away from Asher and motion my teacher for me to be excused. As I make my way towards the restroom, I turn back towards the bathroom, only to see Asher running after me.
"Andi! Wait! Please!"
