Welcome party

<unedited>

A welcome party?" I asked soberly, my legs halting in their tracks automatically.

"Yep," Ryan said cheerfully. His left hand was around my shoulders and he was nearly leaning on me.

I could safely say that the feminine side of me which used to freak out over this kind of intimacy had died. I didn't feel uneasy when they are this close and the thought of how I was getting comfortable around these guys was disturbing and scary. Yet kind of warm.

Which was also super scary.

"I don't think we need that," I said shaking my head.

Rohan was my only worry here. I don't think Uncle sent me here to become all buddy buddy with guys and party with them. And let me tell you, I had no idea what a party looked like. And I wasn't intending to know it any time in the near future too.

"C'mon, Uthra," Ryan whined, "We want to properly welcome you."

"Well, it has been one month since I came here and I think I'm not really a new kid anymore," I said as I started walking away.

I heard Ryan run after me. I shook my head.

This kid simply wants a reason to host a party (still have no idea how it works or even looks) and I was the only reason he can find.

"Listen here," Ryan half yelled as he gripped my shoulders to prevent me from walking further away.

I tried to hide my exasperation. Ryan was nice. But now, I was slightly irritated.

"What?" I muttered.

But Ryan was so into his explaining that he didn't notice my coldness.

"It's just a friendly drink with the boys. No biggie. Just say yes," Ryan said and even though it was a little scary, the very thought that a big guy attempted puppy eyes made me give up. He sounded this desperate and even though we weren't best friends he was the first friend I got here. It wouldn't hurt to have a little gathering.

I sighed dramatically and turned towards Ryan.

"Just because you, Ryan, is asking... I think it wouldn't be a big dea-"

"Thanks bud!" he shouted thumping my back, knocking all the air out of my system.

And before I could regain my composure, he was gone.

Really... these guys...

I shook my head as I fought back a smile.

Who knows, I may enjoy the... gathering.

I looked around the room suspiciously. I mean, can you even blame me? I'm having a... gathering with teenage boys in a not so strict dorm. They didn't even have an adult warden for God's sake! So it wouldn't be a surprise if liquor comes in any moment.

But it was a relief when Ryan took a variety of cool drinks from a ragged bag which were obviously non alcoholic.

He tossed them around and the other guys caught it with such ease. Not that I can't catch a flying object... it's just I need a little concentration. Sometimes it was tiring. They can be boys with no effort while I have to try and be a boy.

I shook my head to clear these slightly moody thoughts.

I looked at Rohan when I heard him talk.
