Noah looked left and right as he went down the hallway and checked the paper he had in his hand.
First Meeting Location: Penthouse.
People Attending: Numbers 1&4, and informant
Time: 8:00pm; right after club performancesNote: Please Be On Time This Time and dispose of this in the usual place. Included is your card pass to the penthouse. Please hand it back to One after use. We have a limited number of these.
Noah entered the elevator, and, making sure no one was watching, he ripped the paper. Upon reaching the top floor, he went to the washroom, flushing the shreds down the toilet, but keeping the card and exited, making his way to the penthouse. Quickly, he slid the card into the slot on the door and entered the dark penthouse.
"Thirty seconds early. I'm surprised, Informant," a muffled voice said from the darkness, a figure rising from a chair and holding out their hand.
Noah obediently handed the card to them.
"Much appreciated. You know the reason for this meeting, do you not?" they asked him.
"Of course, One," he replied and scratched his head. "Although I don't see any promising people yet. Wait a little. I'll definitely catch one by the end of the week."
"Can we really trust him to do this? Why not just make him one of the numbers?" another voice asked gruffly.
"Relax, Four. Out of all of them, he's most suited. He mingles with almost everyone."
"I know I know. Why not just make him a number then?" Four sighed. "I don't wanna get back late, hurry up."
"I know you have no interest in our affairs, but please, at least listen for once."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever."
"Also, informant is not suited to be a number at all," One continued. "He's terrible at managing things."
Noah went red. "Ahem! I'm still here! And I don't wanna be a number anyways...too much work. And I'd probably not last for more than a week."
One sighed. "This is supposed to be an important meeting, not a childish squabble."
"Well then.....what about Lyric Rodriguez?" he asked tentatively.
"Not a choice at all," One immediately cut in.
Noah's face fell. "Why not?" he whined.
"I've seen her resolve. She wants to expose us. Just like me, she likes a good mystery. Plus, it would be interesting to see what she does from now on."
"So then shouldn't you be keeping an eye on her?" Four muttered.
"Four, that is already taken care of. You can rest easy. You never know who you can trust in this school, and so I've thrown in a hidden card. You just need to do what you usually do."
"I can't keep up with you guys!" Four ruffled his hair in annoyance and added, on topic this time, "But this is the most you've talked in awhile, One."
"Hey, no one can speak for me now, can they? We lost our secretary, Two, cause they graduated, and our vice-president, Three. So just bear with me for now, okay?" One sighed.
"Anyways, just find someone who can replace Two soon, okay? I don't want to have to talk all the time, and Two's role is always to keep people interested."
Noah nodded. "Yeah, no worries. Then....see you!" he exited and the door clicked shut behind him.
Four left soon after. All that was left was One. They bit on their fingernail in expectation and slowly their face broke into a grin. "I'm expecting a lot from you, Rodriguez. After all, no one's tried to solve the school mysteries seriously for a while."
