Chapter 5: Greetings, Plans and a Job

"I'm Diana, by the way." The brown headed girl said.

"Nice to meet you."

"And these are my friends, Eboni," She pointed to the girl with jet black hair. "Who is also Kale's girlfriend." Eboni blushed a little.

"And the redhead there, if you haven't already guessed, is Eric's sister, Zoe." When I looked at Zoe, I could totally tell that she was related to Eric, I mean if you looked at them you could see that they had the same red hair and dark blue eyes; it must run in the family.

"It was nice meeting you too, but we really do have to go now." Diana said as she picked up a purse and looked at Eboni and Zoe. "Girls we have work in 20, come on."

The girls whined as they stood up. Kale walked over to Eboni and gave her a kiss goodbye.

"I can't wait till tomorrow tonight, guys!" Zoe said then she ran out of the house followed by Eboni.

When they left I turned to the boys.

"What's happening tomorrow tonight?" I asked. They all looked at me with smiles on their faces. I had a feeling none of them planned on telling me. I sighed and walked back to my room, knowing that all eyes were on me. When I got in my room I heard my phone going off. I found it on a nightstand next to my bed.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Pheb, its Con."

"Hi."

"I wanted to know how you're doing…you left yesterday without a word, and then some people came over and moved all of your things, I wasn't able to say good bye." She said.

"I didn't think you would want to say goodbye to me."

"Of course, I know I have been a female dog lately, but I need Chad right now and the only way he would have stayed was if I kicked you out."

"Wait; hold on, you kicked me out because Chad asked you too?" Connie was silent. "You choose your boyfriend over me."

"Pheb, I need him."

"What do you mean you need him? How can you need a lazy scum?"

"Well that lazy scum is the only thing I got." I could tell she was crying.

"No, Connie you have me."

"But you're not what I need...you're not what the...the baby needs." My mouth dropped on the floor.

What baby? OMG! She is pregnant? I was thinking nonstop, and Connie was crying.

"I shouldn't have told you." Was all she said then the line went dead. I kept the phone near my ear for a few seconds in shock that she hung up on me, when I was trying to gather my thoughts. I tried to call her back, but she didn't answer. I sighed and sat down on my bed.

What's she going to do? I know she doesn't have the money to raise a child, I mean, she struggles as it is, and to have Chad there, soaking up all her money when he pleases, man, he is truly a low life, I do see her point though, she thinks the baby needs a father…but Chad is in no way ready for parenting, neither is Connie.

I wonder what she's going to do about our parents. They will freak out and disown her, like they did with me...but I was different, the moment my parents found out I had sex with someone, William, they disowned me. They said they were raised on strict religious beliefs, and that I must be married to have had sex with William. I didn't end up pregnant, but Connie? Man they will flip out. I felt my heart sink for her, she must be so depressed.

When I felt my phone vibrate, I realized I was getting a text message; I looked and saw it was Connie:

Pheb, I'm going crazy right now, I need Chad he is the father...please, I know right now you're probably on your bed worrying about me, but don't I'll be fine. I plan on taking a triple shift at the Grill until I start showing, then, I will figure something out, love you, and don't worry about me, I'll be fine.

I rolled my eyes at her text message…she was far from being fine. And right then, a plan popped into my head.

Oh, Connie you'll be fine, with my help that is...

A few hours later:

I held the newspaper, scanning it over and over.

"What you looking for?" Eric asked, coming into the living room.

"A job." I admitted. Eric studied me for a second.

"I think I know a job you might be interested in."

"Are you talking about that job Bry was talking to us about?" Kale asked, as he came into the room as well.

"Yeah." Eric said. "You should go check it out." Eric said, looking at me.

"I don't know, what's the job?" I asked.

"You'll be Bry's assistant." Eric said.

"Who's Bry?" I questioned.

"Ace's brother, who hangs around here with Ace." Eric said.

"And Ace is?" I asked.

"He is one of our roommates." Kale said, as he turned on the T.V.

"Roommate? Wait a minute, how many roommates are there?" I asked.

"Just four of us, Kale, William, Ace and me…Bry on the other hand, is just here from time to time." Eric stated.

"Where's Ace right now?" I asked.

"Ace only comes here once and a while, mostly on the weekends, but this weekend he is out of town with his parents. But you should go apply for the job tomorrow; I can set it up for you." Eric said.

"Yeah, that would be great; I guess...what does Bry do?"

"Something about buying things and remodeling them, but your job would be being his assistant and knowing Bry it will be...fun." Kale paused before saying fun, I began to wonder what he meant by fun. I guess I should at least go and check out the job to see if it might be something I want to do.

The next day:

"Come on, wake up!" Eric shook me lightly. I opened my eyes. "Hi sweetie pie, come on you need to get up, you have an interview in an hour." I stood up and wiped my eyes. I noticed the house was quiet.

"Where is everyone?" I asked.

"They are all asleep, it's like the crack of dawn, no one's awake, but me and you. So come on, let's get you ready, we want to dress to impress." I smiled at Eric. I could already tell he was a morning person, it made me laugh and get up...

"Come in." Said a male voice. I walked in and was in awe of the office, it was beautiful. There were no walls, just windows that over looked the whole ocean. "Are you Phoebe?" Asked the male, I looked over and I swear I have never laid eyes on a guy this HOT!

"Y-yes." I said, staring at him in awe.

"I'm Bry." He held out his hand, I shook it.

Please help me get through this meeting! I thought.
