Anne smiles warmly. "So now that we are all here, I would like to tell all of you about yourselves. So I assume all of you know of the movie frozen? Yes, well your powers are the same idea as Elsa's, except instead of ice, you have the elements. Ella, you have the element power of earth, Savanna fire, Brielle water, and Liberty air. Each of you have a position, if you choose to except who you are, or, you may hide your powers and eventually, if not excercized, will wear off. If you choose to come with me I will be sure you, your powers, and your families will be in outstanding care. You can't be unknowing what you are going into, so on any other conditions I would not be able to tell you all of this. You will need to choose a leader among yourselves, and make a decision about what you ate going to do. Please hurry, we don't have too much time." I look over at my friends. I know that we all want to trust her, and I think it's our only chance. "I will give you kids privacy." Once she walks away, I start up the conversation. "I think we should go. We will be found out if we don't. If Anne is bad, we all know our powers are stronger. I think we have a chance to do something big here." Ella puts her hand in the middle of our huddle. I can't help but laugh at how cheesy this is despite what's going on. I look over and see Savanna roll her eyes, but she's also grinning. "I'm in too." Brielle puts her hand in the center. "Course" I put my hand on. Savanna looks around, still a bit uneasily, but hesitantly put her hand in. In some stupid, tv cheese-a-thon type way, we all have a pact. We are all in. Brielle beckons Anne back over. I smile at her. "We won't choose a leader among us, but you are free to. Picking a leader may or may not separate us, and that's not an option. Other than that, tell us what we have to do. We will most likely listen." She nods, and says "You, my dear will be the leader. Everbody I think will agree that you are the best fit. You are also very powerful." I am surprised, but my friends smile at me and nod, giving me confidence. Anne continues. "And you have made the right choice. I will be sure your families are safe. They can't figure out your secrets, it is crucial they don't find out until later. Oh, and you better send in your applications to that prestigious boarding school." She winks and disappears. We all go home, and I talk to my parents about a very good boarding school, that's flier mysteriously appeared at our door and who's website is now online. I apply, and they promise to send a reply by tomorrow. I am nervous, I will miss my parents and family. I know that I will return to them very soon, and that thought comforts me. I go to bed, thinking about how crazy and fast this all is going. I slowly fade into sleep, excited for the adventures ahead of me.
•••••••••••Two days later••••••••••
I hear my mom call me from the kitchen. "Liberty, you can't be late for your last day of EPMS!" She has a sing-song voice, confirming that she has no idea what is going on. No recognition. "I will be right there!"I smile to myself as I get ready for the day. My last day and it's still the second week. I get to school and everyone is still buzzing about the fire that was caused by Savanna hitting a table into a space heater, then was put out by kids pouring water glasses on it, then a hole got filled with mud and dirt caving into it. Thankfully, the teachers opened the windows just in time. Alex is just loving all of the attention towards her, she suffered a tiny little burn on her fingertip. She is pretty mad at all of us, I can't go through a class without a glare from her or her friends. I honestly don't care, starting tomorrow she'll be the least of my problems. I can't pay attention in any of my classes, I'm to nervous and excited for pre-algebra to concern me. Alex is with me in this class, and she's fuming when the class gives me hugs and a giant we'll miss you card. The final bell rings on my public education. For most kids, today is just another Wednesday bell. For me, it's the best bell ever rung. My dad texts me,"Do you want to get ive cream? Your moms and me treat! We can had Savana, Ella and Brielle ovet tooo." I laugh. My dad isn't the best with technology. I say I will, and my friends are coming too. They ride their bikes and I longboard alongside them to the ice cream parlor. We walk in, and twenty or so of our friends jump out from behind tables and chairs. "SURPRISE!!!" I let out a small yell, startled. As I jump, a chair gets in the way and I trip over it. Great move by me. The whole hangout is decorated. A banner spells out "CONGRATS ELLA BRIELLE SAVANNA AND LIBERTY!" In big purple letters. Streamers cascade from the ceiling, and balloons clutter up the floors. My friends help me up and we all have a great time chatting and eating, and when it's all over I don't want to leave. I give hugs and thanks, as my friends do too. I will miss my friends. I say my goodbyes to Ella, Savanna, and Brielle. I don't feel to sad about leaving them, I will see them bright and early tomorrow. I hop in my parents car, and we head home. We have dinner and talk about how excited I must be to go to a private school with my best friends. I really will miss my family. I get ready for an early bedtime. When I crawl in bed, I start to think, Is this all worth it? What if I don't see my family again, or if this is the wrong side? What if I fail? I am going to miss Zane and Iz too! I have no idea. I will see them again. I will. I can't just pass this up, I can make it work. With my best friends by my side, it will be much less lonely. I'm excited, I just don't know what to expect. I drift off into a restless sleep.
