"We have to call the police." Says Tyler pacing up and down the hotel room. "Yeah, something can be happening to your mom right now, Susie." Josh added. All i could do was nodd my head and stare at my hands. Im a terrible daughter. If i wouldn't have left, this would have never happened. "Do you want to go back to Modesto?" Tyler asked breaking the silence. "No, no, its fine. I'll go there myself." I said grabbing some money for a cab. "Im coming too." Says Josh. "What time is your guy's interview?" I ask. "Tomorrow," Tyler says, "Our manager called us and said that they moved our interview to tomorrow. And im coming." I nodded and grabbed my jacket. Even thought its summer, i still get cold. Weird, right?
"We're here." Said the taxi driver. Josh handed him 35 dollars and we got out of the car. I saw that someones car was in the driveway. "Jeremy's here." I said then run-walked to the front door. Jeremy opened it right away. How could i have not recognized his voice on the phone? "Susie..." He said smiling, exposing his rotten, yellow teeth. I saw Tyler cringe. "Can we come in?" I ask trying to sound brave. "Of course," He said extending his left arm into the house.
I walked passed him and stopped when i saw my mom in the hallway. Her mouth had duct tape on it, her left eye was swollen, and blood was dripping from her head. She looked dead. "Mom?" I rushed towards her. She tried to tell me something, but i couldn't hear her. I took the tape off of her mouth. "What?" I ask hugging hetr tightly. "I- I said im sorry, Susie." She said into my shoulder. I hugged hter tighter. "No, mom. Im sorry. Lets get out of here," i lifted her up and made sure we was able to walk before going back to the guys. "Josh? Tyler?" I say walking around the house. I checked outside; our car was still there, but Jeremy's car was gone. "Over here!" Yelled Tyler. His voice was coming from the kitchen, so i went there.
"Mom, have a seat. We'll leave in a couple of minutes." I say pulling out a chair from the kitchen table. I went to the drawers and grabbed a wet towel. I walked back to my mom and dabbed her bloddy eye with the towel. "My God, what did he do to you?" I mumbled. "Everything.." She blurted out. She started sobbing and all i could do was hug her.
I saw from the corner of my eye that Josh and Tyler walked into the kitchen. Josh's eye was bruised. "What happened!?" I ask letting go of my mother. "Well, um, Jeremy and i were talking and i guess i said something wrong, so he punched me." He said putting a bag of ice back on his now blue/purple eye. It sucks seeing someone you care about to much get hurt. Especially when they're so nice. "We should leave.." I said. Everyone nodded and we walked out of my house.
"We should call the police." Tyler said while we were walking to the train station. "Yeah," Josh said. My mom nodded. "We will tomorrow," i said, "but for now, lets go back to the hotel and get some rest. You guys have a big day tomorrow."
-On the train-
Its very uncomfortable. No one is talking, my mom is staring at her hands, shaking, Josh is staring out the window, Tyler is napping. And me? Im thinking about what happened a few hours ago. And how if i wouldn't have left, my mother wouldn't have gotten hurt. Why was Jeremy even there? What did he want? I have so many questions i want to ask him.
-At the hotel-
"Goodnight." I say getting into my bed with my mom. "Goodnight," Josh and Tyler mumbled. I layed on my back and stared at the ceiling. "Susie?" My mom asks. "Yeah?" "I just want to apologize again for how i acted.." She said. I turned my face to her, even though i cant see her, i can feel her looking back at me. "Its fine." I say snuggling up to her. "Wet will talk about this tomorrow, get some sleep." She turned around and soon feel asleep. I couldn't sleep, though. I stayed awake over half the night thinking about random things and staring into outer space.
