Katherine couldn't believe her eyes.  Darcy was dead.  How had she died and why was she still standing upright?  She was just standing there.  She tried not to look into her eyes but they sort of drew her in.  Eli grabbed her arms and yanked her back into him, covering her eyes with his hand.

"W-W-What is happening."  The urge to go towards Darcy or what was left of Darcy grew stronger.

"Darcy is a fairy."  Katherine giggled.  It sounded so absurd.  Even if she did believe in all that mythical stuff she wouldn't pine Katherine for a fairy.  They were much to nice and elegant, while Darcy was cold and distant.

"How absurd.  Surely she is not a fairy."  Eli exhaled loudly.

"What are you lame?"

"Lame.  I can assure you I am one of the coolest people ever."  Katherine now felt somewhat hurt by his accusation.

"Cool?  Are you cold."

"What? No of course not."

By now Eli had pulled them both out of the room and closed the door though Kath still tended to gravitate closer and closer to the door.

"Katherine, do you know what happens when faries die?"

"No..."

"To avoid their souls being lost they try to cling onto what life they can.  If you stare into their eyes for two long they begin to suck you in."

"Ohhh."

"How did yo not know this.  Tell me again where are you from."

"Oh just from around." Eli eyed her suspiciously but didn't persist.

"Well it seems that I have to cancel our date, try not to be too upset, because I have to get you to safety and a crime to investigate."  She knew he was just joking but somehow she was slightly upset.

"But I want to help."

He shot her a stern look. "My sweet Katarina.  You didn't even know what a fairy was, how can I expect you to accompany me, a beast."  His words were, like most times, confusing.

"A best?"

"Yes a beast.  Katherine have you not known."

"Known what?"

"Never mind that, Kath its too dangerous."

"But I want to help!"

"Katarina I can't risk that.  You are too important to risk that."  Eli placed a gentle hand along her back and slowly brought her to the staircase.

"You can't just lock me up somewhere and expect me to be fine with it," she said with a sneer.   This sexist ass was sure as hell not going to keep her back.

"What matters isn't wether your fine with it because right now wether or not you are safe matters most."  But why?  Why was she so important to that household.

"Eli, I will be fine.  I can defend myself."  Eli stopped and looked her in the eyes.

"Are yo absolutely positive?"

"Yes of course."

"Well alright then.  We just need to take a quick stop to get some things from my quarters and then we will be on our way."  Ugh why were there so many stairs.  Katherine felt the stairs alone were enough of a workout for a month.

As always his room was dark and cold.  The light flickered on.  Illuminating the room with a dull glow.

"Katherine this is for your own good."  He ran out the door and slammed it shut, locking her in his room.  She was trapped there. Damn him.  She gan banging on it yelling profanities at him,

'My sorry my dearest Kathy but you are to important, to precious and I will not allow you to get hurt."
