Katherine didn't know what to do. She felt scared, intrigued, and somewhat exited. This strange new world was know her own and she decided that she could do what she pleased. It was very early in the morning when she kept down stairs to see if there was anything to eat. Her footsteps made loud thumps with each step she took. She tried tiptoeing but then it began to creak. No matter how hard she tried she just kept making noise. It was aggravating. Step creak. Step creak. Katherine was so terrified that she would awaken someone and she would be caught. But then it occurred to her that sh e didn't care. So what if she woke them up? They were rude and scary and had locked her in a room. So she briskfully descended the stairs at a normal pace but was cut short when her body slammed against the corner the wall which led to another passageway. Pain erupted in her hip. It felt like a burning fire in her. "Help! Iv'e been shot! Oh god help me." She layed on her back and rolled around for extra dramatics. Footsteps sounded in the distance and she looked over to see a pair of polished black dress shoes attached to Eli's body. He extend a hand to her. He seemed amused as she almost felled over. He grabbed her by the waste, steadying her and then suddenly let go as if she burned him when she loudly winced.
"Now, did someone say that they have been shot?"
"Maybe......"
"Alright lets see it."
Katherine slightly lifted her shirt and revealed her left hip to him. It was very read and seamed to be forming a bruise.
"Now, I'm no doctor," Eli began, "but I think that you will live. This gunshot wound will heal in no time".
"Thank you my savior."
"Now, what were you doing down here so early?" his brows furrowed.
"I was um looking for food." she felt slightly embarrassed admitting it then. The once headstrong girl she came down has had diminished back to a timid scared girl. He grinned a big toothy grin. it was beautiful. Katherine couldn't help but just stare at him. She felt she could stare for ages. She hadn't really thought much of his beauty until now. And boy was he beautiful. It was like a new light was shed on him.
Eli grabbed her hand and began leading her to the kitchen. She limped alongside him. He looked back confused and then recalled. Soundly the world was upside-down. Eli had thrown Katherine over his shoulder and was now carrying her down that stairs. She yelled in protest and began pounding her fists on his back
"You buffon!"
"Ha nice insult," he snorted.
"You uncivilized oaf!"
"Well Kathy, that really breaks my heart".
When they had reached the kitchen he set her down on the counter and began rummaging though the cabinets. She felt the old feeling of de ja vu as she sat on the counter.
"Well your in luck!" Eli appeared in front of her with a small, half eaten chocolate cake. Instead of being a normal person and getting a plate, he grasped a piece of the cake with his bar hand and began feeding her. He bent her head back, trying to dodge it but desperately failed. It landed all of her neck. She was shocked, and in retaliation she grabbed a handful of cake and slammed som on his cheek. He was livid. He grabbed another handful and threw it at her.
Katherine began using a nearby spatular to fling cake at him. Tomas opted for a frying pan to shield himself from the flying bits go chocolate
Katherine had long forgotten about her hunger. This, although was really messy, was much more fun. Eli began shouting battle cry noises as he ran and dodged.
"You'll never catch me alive!"
"Drop the weapon. You are outnumbered!"
"Stop it you fiend!"
From then on, they continued to throw large amounts of cake all over the place. Their was cake in both of their cake and all over their hairs. By the time the cake was all gone, they were covered. Tomas arrived downstairs looking as the situation with an amused expression.
"No" Thomas exclaimed ,"I was really looking forward to eating that." He was wearing suit. Why? Who even does that? I guess Thomas does. Katherine got to wondering, did he sleep in that? Does he even sleep? Probably not.
Thomas walked over to Katherine, gliding his hand along the surface of the island. His fingers left a path down the splattering of cake. It looks like little neatly paved roads. Something about his demeanor had changed. Thomas had always seemed like the more practical one, the safe one and Eli had been the daunting and dangerous brother. Now, she wasn't so sure.
Thomas stared into her eyes with each step closer, tracking footprints of cake. Why was he coming over her, she thought. What was he going to do? Although he seemed amused just moments ago, now he looked different, focused. Hungry?
Oh no, she thought, What if it was his cake and now it was all gone. She had eaten his cake and he was hungry, so now he would eat her, and not in like a sexual way or anything, but like a toss in the oven and cooked type of way. That wasn't the nice way.
When he finally got to her what felt like minuets was merely seconds. He stood in front of her and lifted her down from the counter back onto her feet. This fiasco made her forget about her "battle wound" and she was able to stand tall. She took a deep breath and puffed out her chest, trying to make herself seem bigger, but failed miserably when she looked up to realize that he towered over her. She took a step back. He took a step forward. She took another step back. He took another step froward. This continued until she was right back up against the counter again.
He stared at her, possibly thinking of all the ways thats he could kill her. Instead he did the unexpected. He brushed a few strands of hair back with his fingers and then picked a large chunk of cake off the top of her head an ate it. She furiously blushed.
Katherine knew that she should be grateful that it was the cake that he ate, but it was something else that caught her mind. I mean how unsanitary. What if she had had dandruff. I mean she didn't but he certainly didn't know that. He could have well just ate a huge chunk of dandruff.
"So I see you are having a party without me. Why I am shocked."
"Well the party is here now, so join us, God knows you will either way."
"Anyways may I have some of your wine?"
"No, it is mine, and I will drink it," Eli stated back.
"Well what id the wine is techincaly both of ours, but you keep hogging it."
"The wine is addicting, besides. You know what happened when you had the last bottle of wine."
"IT WAS NOT MY FAULT THAT SHE- I mean that the wine is gone."
"This wine is mine. Get your own."
"How typical of you, always keeping your things to yourself and never sharing."
She couldn't help feeling the subliminal messages. There was obviously more behind this wine story, and she intended to figure it out.
Thomas sulked away and stammered off leaving them alone. Eli seemed angry. He rushed over to Katherine and hugged her. It was a weird feeling that she wasn't used to. She never was much of a hugger. Eli inhaled deeply, talking in her scent. She was very glad that she had recently showered or else that would have been very embarrassing.
He placed a very light kiss by here ear and whispered something. And in that moment she felt protected. She felt content. "safe", he whispered.
