In the dark jungles of Anthoria, lived the Abenaki tribe. They were dragon riders who followed the way of their ancestors. They lived in hut like shelters in an ancient colossal tree in the middle of the jungle. The huts were on each branch and connected by vines. The Abenaki tribe had a way of finding soul mates and soul dragons. They found their soul dragon through recognition and their soul mate through soul names. The people of this village were peaceful and all were unique, but there was one man whose life will be changed forever.

His name was Strongbow, he was the tribe’s most respected warrior, but was blinded by a vicious attack. Strongbow was very tall and very handsome. He had gold hair, caramel skin and a muscular figure. Now he is the tribe’s most valuable trainer for its young men. He trained them on how to fight with and without dragons. He trained them to master weaponry and also survival. The chief of the tribe, Tree Wise, always requested Strongbow’s guidance in bringing the young men to the walk of manhood that was held when a boy becomes sixteen years of age. Tree Wise had long dark brown hair which was always braided and caramel colored skin. He was short but very muscular and can endure anything a young man can such as the walk of manhood. The walk of manhood was a two day hike in which young men must go up a mountain to dragon territory and find their soul dragon. Although he enjoyed what he did, Strongbow longed for a son of his own, for he has been childless all these years.

Upon returning from training one glorious evening, Strong bow’s wife, Star Rise, had news for him. Star Rise was a beautiful woman with hair the color of chocolate and skin lighter than caramel. “I have visited Mystic, the oracle, and she has foreseen great news!” Mystic was an old, wise woman who had white hair and caramel skin. Everyone in the tribe looked at her for future guidance and for answers to health problems such as stomach aches.. Thinking that the news would be related to the tribe’s future, Strongbow did not hesitate to ask what it was. “Are you not wondering what the oracle said?” Star Rise asked surprised. “No, but I know you will still tell me.” Strongbow said. “Well, I am with child.” Strongbow could not believe what his wife has said. “What have you said? I am going to have a son?” Star Rise replied proudly, “The oracle said you will be blessed with a great warrior, one who will set an example and banish our foolish tradition!”

As the seasons past, Star Rise grew larger and Strongbow grew anxious. Then one cold and dark night, Star Rise woke up startled and held her stomach. She woke up Strongbow and said “It is time.” Strongbow, worried, asked “Shall I call the oracle?” “No I want it to be just us.” Star Rise replied calmly. Surprised Strongbow said, “How can I help if I am blind?” Star Rise replied in a calm whisper, “All you have to do is be here for me. The rest shall fall in place.”

Three hours later while Star Rise breathed heavily, Strongbow walked up and down the hut until he heard a little cry. “Is that my warrior’s little cry?” Strongbow asked excited. Star Rise hesitated to answer and Strongbow asked again, “Is my warrior ok?” After a brief silence, Star Rise replied, “Yes, our warrior has been born. What shall we name our warrior?” Thinking for a couple minutes, Strongbow held out his strong but gentle arms and said, “Hand me my warrior.” Star Rise wrapped the baby in soft bear fur and carefully handed Strongbow the baby. Lifting the baby up to the gods, Strongbow said, “I, Strongbow, son of Redlance, name thee Aukanai’i (AOO ka NAEE ee)!” He handed Aukanai’i back to Star Rise. “Why did you name the baby as such?” Star Rise asked. “For it means great warrior.” Strongbow replied with great pride.
