Teardrops and Butterflies

(Sequel to The girl in the attic)

Chapter 7

Preston’s POV

We spent the rest of the day at the butterfly park and then I took Katie out to a fancy restaurant to celebrate. She insisted that it wasn’t necessary but I could tell that she was excited about it. We ate, drank champagne and laughed until late and then when I took her home we made sweet love.

It was perfect and all I could think about was how amazing the rest of my life is going to be because I am going to get to spend it with her.

When I woke up the next morning I was greeted by the smell of bacon so I slipped out of bed and made my way to our little kitchen.

“Morning beautiful,” I said softly as I came to a stand not too far behind her.

“Hey,” she replied, as she turned around to face me, her cheeks slightly blushing at my compliment.

“I didn’t like not having you next to me when I woke up this morning,” I complained jokingly. She looked concerned for a second but then an evil grin spread across her face.

“I’m so sorry but I promise I’ll make it up to you,” she stated as she quickly closed the distance between us and wrapped her arms around my neck.

“How do you plan on doing that?” I questioned in anticipation.

“Oh, you’ll just have to wait and see,” she giggled before gently pressing her lips to mine.

The kiss only lasted a second before she pulled away and walked back over to the oven. I just stood there watching her as she finished making breakfast. She really is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

Once she was done we ate at the table and then I quickly helped her with the dishes. Usually it would have irritated me to do it but since I met Katie everything has changed. As long as I get to be with her I don’t care what I have to do, I’ll even scrub the floors if I had to.

“I’m going to take a shower,” she said when we were done. I smiled at her as I nodded my head in agreement and then followed her with my eyes as she slowly started making her way out of the kitchen.  When she reached the bathroom door she took off her jacket and top and let them fall to the floor. My breath caught in my throat as she did this and I heard her suppress a little giggle before she turned around and looked at me.

“Well are you coming or not?” she asked teasingly and then disappeared into the bathroom.

I didn’t let her wait on me. I jumped to my feet and ran to the bathroom. Once I was inside I closed the door behind me and watched as she stripped off the rest of her clothes and got in under the running water.

We spent the rest of the day making love, laughing and just being together.

At around eight a clock we decided to call my parents and tell them the good news. I wasn’t really sure how they were going to take it so all I could do was hope that they were going to be happy for us.

I put them on loudspeaker and told my dad to do the same so that we could all hear each other. We chatted about how things were going and about where they were and what they were doing for a while and then I told them the big news. There was a long silence on the other side of the phone and I could see that Katie was getting nervous as we waited for them to respond.

“Mom? Dad?” I asked, trying to get them to say something.

“Were here son,” my dad answered.

“So what do you think,” I questioned.

“Well, I can’t talk for your mom but from the look on her face I’d say she is pretty darn happy,” he laughed.

“I am, it just came as a bit of a shock,” my mom sniffed.

“Are you crying?” Katie asked, her eyes filled with both happiness and concern at the same time.

“Yes sweetie, I’m just so happy that my son found somebody like you,” she stated, causing Katie to start crying too.

Once everybody had calmed down and my parents got over their initial shock Katie told them the whole story about how I proposed. My mom and dad were really excited for us and my dad told us that they would happily pay for the whole thing.

“Do you have a date?” my mom asked, sounding like a little excited kid.

“No, we haven’t really thought about that yet,” Katie responded.

“I understand but you have to promise to let me know as soon as you do, I want to help you plan everything!” my mom stated.

“Ok, as soon as we know we will let you know,” Katie replied, laughing.

We chatted for a few more minutes and then said goodbye. I could tell that Katie was relieved about how good my parents took the news and I couldn’t help but feel happy too. With their help I could give Katie the wedding of her dreams.

“So when do you want to get married?” I asked Katie as I pulled her onto my lap.

“I don’t know, when do you want to?” she asked, answering my question with a question.

“As soon as possible but I guess we should probably graduate from high school first,” I replied honestly, knowing that if I could marry her right now I would.

“How about spring next year?” Katie asked, deep in thought, probably picturing the whole thing in her head.

“That’s perfect,” I whispered, pulling her out of her thoughts and back to reality as I leaned forward and gently pressed my lips against hers. She kissed me back immediately, making me forget about everything except the taste of her lips and the feel of her body.
