Chapter 1 - Welcome Back.
Good morning Upper East Siders. School's on the horizon and I do believe a new era is dawning. Henry Bass enters his senior year after coming from a summer in the Caribbean, but I'm afraid that's all I know, his star-crossed parents spent their summer in Paris. As for his sister Harriet, it's been heard that she's been spending the summer alongside the Archibald's. And, finally, the Humphrey-Van Der Woodsen-Whitney clan have been spending summer in their Hampton residence with Rufus and his new wife, Izobel. Looks like the Twins G and A have been sticking to Brooklyn all summer. Something to hide? Well I'm sure I'll find out eventually. Hope you all have a great year, full of gossip and... well that's all I care about. You know you love me. –xoxo GOSSIP GIRL.
"HARRIET ELEANOR BASS! It's the first day back at Constance. Get up! We've been calling you for thirty minutes!" My mother calls from downstairs. I shove a pillow over my head just as my older brother, Henry, bursts into the room.
"Get up Haz." He forcefully removes the pillow from my face and then slams it down on my face.
"FINE." I say as I remove the covers and slowly peel my eyes open as I check my phone and see the latest Gossip Girl blast. "You're mentioned." I turn my phone so my brother can see it as he checks his hair in the mirror.
He looks exactly like our father. Dark hair, dark and mysterious eyes. Although, I look like the perfect mix of my parents.
"Of course I am," He smiles conceitedly, "I've been on Gossip Girl's watch since I was born. Even though it's gone through a few Gossip Girls since then." He finished his hair then walked out of the room with his usual swagger.
I sighed and looked at the purple clock on the far side of my white washed wall then whispered 'Crap' before jumping out of bed before running down the stairs, gripping the bannister for support.
"Good morning!" My mother chirped as I walked into the dining area. My father, Chuck Bass, was already sat down at the table reading the newspaper. My mother sat down and my father put his newspaper down and kissed her on the cheek.
"Morning Mom and Dad." I yawned as I grabbed a croissant from the plate that the chef had put down on the table and began cutting it open and putting butter on it.
"First day of junior year! I remember when I was a junior." My mother looked at my father with a smirk, to which is responded with a smirk back from my father.
"That's disgusting." I laughed slightly through the awkwardness. "Anyway, can I go round Belle's after school today?" I asked, feeling sceptical. After all I did just spend the whole summer with Belle's family.
"What? Why?" My father questioned me. He turned to face me with a look of concern. "You already spent most of the summer with the Archibald's. Can't we have you for one evening?" Point confirmed. I know my father too well.
"Oh Chuck, leave her be. We have her all next week. With the Debutante ball coming up, she'll be with us a lot as we prepare." My mother smiles and my father takes one look at her and his questioning look melts away in admiration.
My parents' love is whole and complete and one day I hope to have a love that's as fulfilling and powerful as theirs.
"Now Harriet, you need to go get ready for school." My father rips his gaze away from my mother and towards me. "And please make yourself look presentable."
He was referring to my bedhead and pajamas which I still had on, as I got up in a rush.
"Okay." I smiled at them as I finished my croissant. I stood up and walked around the table to hug my father from behind and kissed his cheek. "Thank you daddy."
