Ch. 6
My brother and I walked to Mr Joseph's office in a deafening silence and as we reached the door, Henry straightened up his tie and checked his Calvin Klein watch before knocking three times hesitantly.
"Come in." The demanding voice of the horrendous Mr. Mood/Josephs bellowed from his office.
We walked in to the sickly stench of musk and... bleach?
His office must have been cleaned recently, but the cleaners cleaned every night not morning. And it was almost 2pm, just before my free period.
Henry and I both smelt this weird concoction and turned to look at each other, both of our noses upturned at this obscene smell.
As we both took a seat in the polished wooden chairs, we tried to mask our disapproval and utter confusion at the weird smell, but it was soon forgotten as we registered Mr. Mood standing behind his weirdly empty desk with his slicked, grey hair looking greasier by the second. He turned to open the blinds fully, revealing the courtyard.
"The fight in the quad was unacceptable. All those involved will be punished with a week of detention." He started filling out two pink detention slips. "Including you... Miss Bass." His eyes tore into me and I thought I saw him glance downwards at my skirt, but then swiftly went back towards his sheet.
"She didn't do ANYTHING." My brother angrily spat these words at the headmaster. He was so taken aback by these words, he coughed and looked by brother straight in the eye with a glance, only compared to that of a predator and its prey.
"She may not have done anything Henry, but she stood there and so I will need to take her statement at a less hectic time." His eyes turned snake-like, and his slightly aged face wrinkled into a disapproving frown.
"Sir," He spun his head towards me and looked me dead in the eye, "I didn't see anything. I promise." I spoke with an honesty so pure, he had to believe me. "I didn't see how or why the fight started. I only saw some punches thrown. That's it."
After a few moments of tapping his finger and looking between us, Mr Josephs looked back to me again. His gaze softened slightly, but it was still venomous.
"Okay Miss Bass, however, if you're a witness to any other fights, I will have you in my office for a statement. Understood?" His stern voice bellowed over to my ears and sent a shiver down my spine.
I nodded my head as he excused me, however my brother had to stay in the office to give his statement as he was one of the people who made this a physical fight. I looked at my brother, trying to send some positivity towards him as I knew this wasn't going to be easy.
As I walked out of the office, my phone buzzed.
This just in! Henry Bass, Darius VDW-Whitney and Greggory Bass fighting for a chance to be heard! Well boys, Gossip Girl hears you and will come to your aid, as soon as I know, so will you. XOXO Gossip Girl.
I rolled my eyes at the blast, as it was a pretty bad one. Most of the school has heard about this fight so far. I walked hesitantly down the corridor to try to get to my free period classroom and ran into Georgia Rosson.
Georgia had the most beautiful brown hair followed by deep, mysterious eyes. Her wore a necklace of bright yellow beads and a flower crown. She looked like a classic 70's hippie, but it was unique which is what I found amazing about her.
"Hey, I heard about the fight." Georgia spoke with a loud finesse, her voice light and airy but still dominant in a room, much like a motivational speaker.
"I walked in mid fight, everyone was pretty torn up except Darius." I spoke back, trying to match her calming nature.
"I guess those karate lessons that Eric and Jonathan put him in did come in handy." She laughed slightly, a jokey tone of voice piercing through the airiness.
"Definitely." I spoke back curtly, I didn't want to be rude, I just wanted to be detached from the whole situation.
"I have a question to ask you." Georgia quietened her voice. "Do you know what Andrew's been up to? He's my twin and we...are – I mean were... close and everything but... he's been distant in the last few months." Concern riddled her voice.
"I honestly have no idea. We've barely spoken." I spoke clearly.
"I also heard about you and... er... Caspar." Georgia's voice turned stone-like. Georgia is one of Caspar's exes – not his worse, but his first serious ex.
They dated when they were freshmen at Constance and St Jude's. They were the power couple, however Georgia turned Caspar very hippy, took his first blunt with her and everything like that.
Their break-up was messy. After all, Caspar's mother, Jenny, is Scott's half-sister. Let's say, the parent's broke them up due to the half-cousin connection.
"I'm really happy for both of you."
"We're not officially-" I stopped myself. I had to think this through. I cleared my throat then tried restarting whilst Georgia stared at me in confusion. "We aren't dating." I spoke clearly and precise.
"Oh... okay. Well, I just want you guys to know you have my blessing." She smiled sincerely. Georgia's given me a kind of hope, that if Caspar and I had that much of a connection, why wouldn't something happen?
I promise the pace is going to pick up in the next Chapter! You've found out some new things about the characters and I am so sorry to my regulars who are waiting patiently for new chapters! I'll update as quickly as I can, but I am quite a slow writer.
Love, Beth xoxo
