“Hahahaha!... Ha! Jealous your face!” I gave him a mocking smile. “Get a life!”

He laughed, “You are so cute when doing that.”

“So, it’s been 10 years since we see each other.” He continued, “What’s new? Do you have a boyfriend or are you still…you know, waiting for me.”

I choked.

“WHAT?!” I screamed.

I can feel all eyes are on me. I was shocked. I wasn’t able to hold on my emotions.

Mom gave me a quizzical look. I know she is asking for an explanation of why I behave like that.

‘Well, mom, he dumped me when we were kids and now he is playing the good guy like nothing happened before but you know, he is still the asshole I know.’ I explained…on my mind. I wish I could say it out loud.

Oh please ground, I’m so willing to be eaten by now.

Any minute now…

I’m waiting.

“Anne Margaret Parker!” mom’s angry voice hit me. She never called me with my full name and if that happens, well, she really is VERY ANGRY. “What was that all about? It is unethical of you to do that infront of the table!”

I lowered my head, “I’m sorry mom and I’m sorry too Mrs. Harris for my behavior.”

“Come on Carmen, don’t be like that.” Mrs. Harris voice was so nice to hear rather that my mom’s angry high pitched voice.

Mom isn’t the type of person who gets angry easily but there is always an exception. She doesn’t like us being unethical and disrespectful. She raised us to be kind and giving. Maybe she was so shocked of how I acted a while ago especially infront of her bestfriend.

“It’s my fault Mrs. Parker.” Gab but in. “I was teasing her that she got an F in our quiz today.”

I looked at him cocking an eyebrow. Is he really giving me an excuse?

“Is that true?” mom’s voice shifting from angry to worried tone. I was always on the top of the class. It is a big issue for her if I got a grade lower than B. Upon hearing him say that I got an F is something for us (us-meaning me, my teacher, my mom, and the principal) to talk about.

“No, Mrs. Parker.” He chuckled. “I was only joking around.”

I saw his mom hitting his back.  It was so fast I didn’t see it coming. “You are one mean boy! No wonder you don’t have a serious girlfriend.”

He blushed at what his mom just said.

This could be fun. The tension between me and mom are now gone. It’s a relief.

“Mom!” he exclaimed. “That isn’t true. They just can’t handle me.” Looking at me then giving me a wink.

I burst into laughter and I can hear them laugh with me too.

“You can all laugh but that is the truth.” He explained. “I can prove you that.” Saying it directly to me. I just smirked and continued laughing.

We finished eating the food. It was so delicious. We had Seafood Marinara and Butterfly Roast Chicken with Chilies and Herbs. That lunch we had is something I wanted to have everyday. I can feel my belly coming out and saying “Hi I’m back!” I have to double my workout tomorrow. It will be pain in my ass if I don’t reshape myself again.

“Thanks Mrs. Harris for the food. It was awesome!” holding my belly.

I was about to help her clean the table when I felt Pat’s hand grabbed me in the wrist and walked me out of the room.
