Chapter ten

Chapter 10,
Returning home,
Sofie's POV

I looked Nathan in the eyes which had tears in them. He pulled me in close to an embrace hugging me tightly and I returned his tight hug.
"Hey I'll be back soon okay?...we can be together then....forever..." I spoke with a shaky voice. I was shaking for a fear that I would never see him again and he seemed to sense that. We both were released from the tight embrace and he lifted my chin up so our eyes met. My eyes teared up, shedding one tear from both eyes.
Nathan leaned in close to my face and I didn't move, our lips met and he kissed me. I had a shocked look on my face at first but I then closed my eyes as he kissed me deeply and romantically underneath the moonlight. I truly loved him, but I had to go as his father has ordered it to be so.
Nathan then released me from the kiss, he still was crying and so was I. "I promise you....we will be together again...." He spoke without his voice shaking or crying, his tears had stopped but mine still flowed. He took a few steps back and I did also, drying my tears I turned away from him and to the water. I walked in slowly yet quickly at the same time and then dolphin dived underwater just as my tail appeared. I could hear splashing above, Nathan had run into the water looking frantically for me but the dark moonlit water hid me well. My long blonde hair flowed behind me in the water as I dived down deep, my powerful blue tail helping me go down further. My Caribbean blue eyes glowed in the darkness but the darkness didn't last long. At 7,000 below the surface there was light and happy singing, it was my kingdom. I swam towards it with a smile on my face, and I as I approached it I could see the shocked looks on my people's faces. I started to grow nervous....

The Lapíz had stopped playing with the ball, we call our children Lapíz if you didn't know. It seemed everyone was frozen and I suddenly stopped swimming and just let me tail keep me from descending. I stood there, surprise was written all over their faces and my face had fear written all over it. I was only gone for a few months and before I knew it they all surrounded me all talking at the same time.

"Princess! You're back!" A old mated merman screeched. "Welcome back!" A young mermaid said happily. I was so happy at their greetings but that happiness soon faded. "Princess! Where have you been?! Something incredible happened!!" A young merman exclaimed. "What happened?" I asked with a smile. "The Prince of the Northern Kingdom has requested your hand in marriage!" He said happily, and my smile disappeared. A old mermaid hit the young merman on the head...probably his mother. Her eyes told it all, why did you tell her that?!
The prince of the northern kingdom....the most powerful kingdom of all the merfolk kingdoms...wants my hand in marriage?!

"Oh..." I simply said showing no excitement at all...the young merman spoke up again, "He is visiting the palace right now! You should go see him!" I let out a horrified gasp and with a swish of tail was already swimming at super speed towards my castle leaving the large crowd of my people behind with confused looks on their faces.
This can't be happening...it isn't true! I swam quickly through the castle checking each room, finally I came across a room with the door closed. Accidentally I slammed the door open and to my worst fear there he was...with my guardian too. My guardian rushed over to me and greeted me while yelling at me for leaving and asking where I had been...however those words I muted out of my head...my eyes met him...the prince the whole time.
He had a soft smile on his face, his cheek rested on his fist as he held it up. His Ginger hair moved slowly in the water and his eyes were those of a demon...red eyes. The prince was known to be a fierce warrior...the best in his kingdom...one shouldn't piss him off.

I approached him with a graceful and elegant bow and he simply nodded...rude..I remained calm and opened my mouth to speak, "Your Highness, may I ask why you are here?" I asked in a calm soothing voice, and he remained seated a he answered. "Didn't you already hear? I've come to ask your hand in marriage princess.." He stated...the way he spoke sounded like he wasn't going to take no for a answer...but my loyalty and love lies with Nathan.
"And if I refuse your request?" I asked in a clear voice my eyes showed coldness. He simply smirked and his eyes narrowed, "if you refuse I shall announce war against our two kingdoms...and the eastern kingdom...your kingdom will perish.." My eyes shot wide with horror and my guardian seemed surprised as well...we both held fear in our eyes.
My hair covered my eyes a bit as I hung my head low trying to stop tears from coming...he would wipe out a entire kingdom just to have me....if I leave my kingdom he will probably still wipe out my kingdom and search for me...Nathan! Why does fate us?! Please help me Nathan! My mind screamed. "Very well...if you could...please allow me to think about it...." I spoke with my voice shaky. "Of course" he just said those two words...or that's all I heard at least because I was already out of the room and swam into my bedroom. Locking the door behind me I fell onto my bed sobbing to myself, my face was hidden by my arms my entire body shaking as I cried. I couldn't feel my tears like on land...I was in water...I missed feeling the tear roll down on my cheek..with Nathan being there to dry them away...
