- - -Ashley's POV- - -
My head hurts.. I sat up to see the blinding lights. I was still in the carnival. I had my camera. I slowly got up and looked at my surroundings. I'm near the only roller coaster this place had to offer when it was open. Okay.. Where are Michael and Lilith? Please tell me they're alright.
I started walking towards the Ferris Wheel. Maybe they're still there? Suddenly I jump as I hear a.. dog? I turn around to see a husky dog, with reddish brown fur. Maybe that's.. blood? I didn't really think about that, I like the color. The dog walks up to me, with a human like smile. Its probably supposed to be scary, but this is the only thing that hasn't been so scary I want to die. I pet its head, and scratch it behind the ears. It smiles wider if that's even possible, licking my hand. It leaves behind a red mark, which I'm guessing is blood, but hey, I'm trying to keep calm like Lilith would.
"Hey boy, w-wanna walk with me? I'm trying to f-find my friends," I say, and the dog let's out a yip before licking my hand again. I gave the dog a soft smile as we both now walked together down the pathways of the old carnival ground. For some reason, I felt safe when I was with this dog. I know its probably one of the many creatures put here to kill idiots like me. I'd rather feel safe in my last moments.
We walked around for a while, and I checked in some of the carnival game booths for the key. I took one of the old stuffed animals and gave it to the dog, who held the stuffed rabbit in its mouth. I patted his head every once in a while.
I walked up to one of the game booths, the one where you would squirt water at the target to win. I was always good at this one. The dog wasn't too far behind me. I sat on a stool and looked at the game. I grabbed the controller and squirted water into the target, never missing as the water pressure changed. I smiled.
"Still g-got it," I mutter, my speech impediment showing. Everyone thinks its because I'm shy. I don't mind, I'd rather have them think that instead of knowing the truth. I also didn't want people to know I'm athletic. I know, shocker. The shy girl that gets bullied could probably take them on if she tried. I don't want to, its just not worth the trouble. Since I moved I gave up on sports and just exercise on my own, but I bet if I tried I could probably still beat my school's track and field record for sprinting.
"I see you found Smile," I hear, and I stand up from the stool. The dog trots over to the man standing near me. I breath in, then breath out. The man had raven black hair with slits around his lips, making his smile literally from ear to ear. the blood around the cuts was dry, but it looked kind of like he cuts them over and over to keep them open. He licked his lips, his tongue slipping through the cuts.
"Why don't I f-find you as scary as that s-static man?" I ask to myself, though he could hear me. Why am I not finding him scary anymore? Is it because I'm getting used to this place?
"Not as scary? You'll regret that," He says, glaring at me and bringing out a blood covered knife. My eyes widen. Time to test out that sprinting. I take off down the path, making sure my form is correct. Hey, the better form, the more stamina. I take a sharp turn to the right, breathing hard. I take a chance and glance behind me to see him around ten feet behind me.
Damn, he's quick.
I keep sprinting, trying to lose him. If I die from him catching up or me losing my breath, I hope the others get out alive.
- - - Michael's POV- - -
I immediately sat up, rubbing my aching head. I feel like I need to throw up. I know that static from a video game I played a while ago.. Slenderman.. how am I still alive? I stood up and dusted off my jeans. I wonder if the girls are anywhere around here? Probably not. Being split up usually leads to our demise. I have to find them. I do a three sixty and realize I'm in one of those quarter arcades, with pinball machines and old video games. My paradise, if only it was a different situation. I'd have to ignore it for now.
I walk over to pac-man and dust it off, looking at it. Looks like it could use a tune up, but I can't do anything without tools.
"Poor thing," I mutter, moving through the rows to try and find the exit. It wasn't like a maze, thank whatever. I felt something wrap around my foot, making me swear as I fell over and began to be dragged. I sighed, knowing that it wouldn't stop. I looked at my foot, a computer cable wrapped around it.
I sat up and began untangling the cord. After I finally got through the knots I stood up, and the cord kept going. Maybe it will lead to the exit? I follow it to see an 'employee's only' door. The plaque was practically falling off, and very dusty. The door bursts open, and I would have been hit in the face by it, if I didn't react as fast as I did.
Cords wrapped around my body, and I swore again. They lifted me in the air, and I spotted what looked like Link from the game Legend of Zelda. He had black eyes with red irises, and blood dripping from them, and the fairy that was with him was red.
"Uh, hello," I said, up in the air.
"Enjoying the arcade?" He said with a smirk. He looked menacing, if it weren't for the fact this was one of the games I grew up with. The fairy could only be from one of two games: Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask.
"Yeah, I have to ask, Ocarina or Majora?" I try to sit up but am forced by the cable. Now that I think about it, the more creepy one was-
"Majora, idiot.. You shouldn't have done that," He said, and a tank of water was revealed. Now I'm freaking out. If I get in that water with the cables.. I start thrashing, and that makes him grin.
"W-wait! I have a bargain," I say, closing my eyes. I open them and I'm stopped right above the water.
"What do you have that is worth your life?" He asks, giving me a look.
"I..I could beat you at a video game, and you tell me where the exit is and don't kill me," I say, trying to calm my breathing. This isn't what I thought would happen when I told Ashley I would help her out. He laughs.
"You? You are going to beat me at a video game? ..Fine, I might as well have some fun while I'm here," He said, putting me down, and I breathed a sigh of relief. I'm safe.. for now.
"Does it have to be a certain game?" I ask. He shakes his head, and motions to the whole of the arcade.
"Any game here. I'm sure I'll beat you anyway," He says, acting like he's won already. I start walking the rows.
"What's your name anyway? I'm sorry I don't read the horror stories like Lilith does," I say while looking for video games.
"Lilith? Is that the one with red hair or the blondish one?" He asks, like he wasn't about to kill me a few seconds ago. What is with people being so calm? I'm freaking out on the inside.
"Yeah, the red head. She doesn't show much emotion either, its strange. Ashley is the blonde one. I'm Michael. Again, your name?" I ask again, and he shrugs, probably figuring he was going to win and kill me anyway so there was no harm in telling me.
"BEN. Though your friend Lilith would probably call me BEN Drowned," he replies. I wonder why he looks like Link? If I get through this I'll have to ask Lilith about that. That is, if I survive this hectic night.
"This one," I say, motioning to the game Donkey Kong. Bring it on.
