(Espeon's Point of View)

After what seemed like an eternity of sitting on that couch, I rested my head on my paws. Slowly, I drifted off to sleep, wrapping my tail around myself before I finally slept.

When I woke up it was sunset; I could tell from the way it looked outside. From the couch that I slept on, I could see right out the large screen window of the cabin. The trees in the distance swished in the breeze. As time passed, I watched the sun set behind the dark forest, and the once blue sky turned a beautiful shade of orange, fading into dark blue. Little shimmering stars illuminated the sky and lolled me into a state of peace and rest.

I lifted my head and flicked my tail calmly, sighing and blinking slowly. I heard gentle footsteps echoing through the house, and I turned to see the blonde trainer girl standing in the doorway. "Hi, little Espeon." Eve spoke up softly. "It's time for bed." She padded over to me and patted my head.

"Goodnight. Sleep well!" She said, rubbing my ears, much to my discomfort. I grumbled and pushed her hand away with my forehead. Eve giggled and smiled, pulling away her hand and skipping towards the doorway again.

She gently flicked the lightswitch off and the room quickly faded to darkness. I heard footsteps travel away and I sighed again. I placed my head down on the couch again, relaxing my legs and resting my injured limb on a pillow. I drifted off into sleep quickly.

I heard a quiet, "Umbreee-" and blinked open my eyes. Bright golden light blinded me and I harshly turned away swiftly. I looked over again, realizing that the golden lights were the Umbreon's rings glowing. He turned them off, his bright red eyes glowing though. "Erm- sorry about that m'mam..." He mumbled, looking down at his paws and hanging his tail in appology.

"Hmph. What do you want?" I demanded, standing and jumping down to face him. "I was sleeping you know!"

"Erm, sorry." He said blankly, looking up with an angered expression, which faded to a blank stare. "I'm here to apologize for my rude behavior. I really shouldn't have been so rude to a lovely Espeon like yourself." He tilted his head to the side and looked at me with a huge, friendly smile. "Forgive me?"

I can't believe he apologized. And as much as I wanted to hate him- strangely enough... I sort of wanted to forgive him as well.

I turned and frowned. Something told me to forgive him... But I didn't want to. "Not likely." I turned back, watching his face droop in disappointment. Why did he care so much? "But since you apologized-" I murmured, looking him in his bright glowing red eyes. "I suppose I won't hold too big of a grudge." The Umbreon perked up and smiled slightly, skillfully leaping onto the couch and cheerfully gesturing for me to join him.

I nodded hesitantly and leaped up, my injured leg feeling quite a bit better. He sat beside me and curled his tail around his paws. I looked the opposite direction and flicked my ear awkwardly.

"Erm- so um I uh-" Umbreon finally broke the silence, staring at me and flicking his black and yellow ringed tail. "...I heard your conversation with Flareon. A-about your trainer. I'm sorry to hear about that." He said compassionately, nervous awkwardness fluttering in his voice.

"Snoop, much?" I asked sarcastically, not missing the brief hurt look on Unbreon's face. "Did you watch my conversation with Flareon?" I demanded, while keeping a calm expression and pose.

"Erm- w-well I suppose..." Umbreon backed away, a worried expression on his face.

I felt a bit guilty about snapping at him, and quickly calmed myself down. "Well... I suppose it's fine. I mean- if I were you I would have done that too." I smirked and stuck my nose in the air. "I am such an interesting pokemon." I said proudly, puffing my chest and grinning playfully at Umbreon, "I don't blame you for wanting to know more about me!"

He quickly shook himself and sat up again, chuckling and looking around swiftly. "Yea... Heh heh." He laughed, lifting a paw and rubbing his face with it. "Listen- about this trainer thing..."

I looked away. "Don't even try with me. If you think that you are going to convince me to stay with your trainer- then you have another thing coming because I will never be owned again, understand? You won't convince me to become your Trainer's little precious Pokemon." I said calmly and quickly, keeping my emotions in check and kmy anger controlled. "And remind your Flareon pal exactly what I just said, because I'm not going to change my mind." I spoke firmly, flicking dismissively.

"Listen..." The Umbreon said gently, his voice quavering. Like me, he was obviously trying to keep his anger contained. "I'm not going to force you to stay with my trainer. What I am trying to say is-" his voice started to raise with anger, but he calmed down again and spoke softly. "... Please- give Eve a chance. She's a really nice trainer- and I would be very glad if you staye- oh and erm- F-Flareon would be really glad too!" Umbreon stuttered, his voice growing cheerful and his lips forming into a shy smile.

I sighed loudly. He sounded very genuine and... Almost convincing. I looked over at him with distrust and defeat in my eyes. "...fine... I suppose I can... Give her a chance..."

Umbreon leaped in delight. "Great!!" He laughed, circling me and smiling. "Tomorrow we are going to have a training session with Eve, and if you come, I'm absolutely sure you will learn to like Eve! I'm sure of it!" I nodded wearily, confused about his sudden excitment. He stopped circling me and stared out the big window at the dark night sky. "Oh- erm- we should probably get to sleep- errrr- GOODNIGHT!" He grinned and leaped off the bed, trotting away gleefully.

Why does he care about what I do?

Doesn't he hate me??
