(I'm not sure how long this story is going to be. I'm scared of writing this chapter btw! I've been working on it for like a week- but I've been really busy with school....)
(Espeon's point of view)
I sat uncomfortably in the trainer girl Eve's arms. We walked down a dirt path and into the forest. Eve veered off the path and started walking down a hill, following a trail of trampled grass. Once we reached the bottom of the hill, I glanced around at my surroundings.
The area at the bottom of the hill was a large dusty clearing, with burnt tree trunks on the left side of the training area.
Umbreon and Flareon reached the bottom of the hill together, padding down carefully, making sure to not slide down the steep slope. Flareon leaped over towards his trainer and circled around her legs. "Flarie!" He giggled cheerfully, waving around his fluffy tail.
"Looks like someone is excited for his training!" Eve laughed. She bent down and released me onto the ground. I smiled nervously and looked around. Umbreon sat in a dignified pose on the other side of the clearing. When I cast a glance his direction, he smiled slightly, nodding his head respectfully at me.
Eve scratched my head and stood, looking around. "Ok Espeon. This is where we train for battle." She looked down at me happily. I nodded to show that I was listening to the blonde girl. "See those?" She gestured to the burnt tree trunks. "-those are our practice targets. We practice our moves on those tree stumps." She explained. "Oh- here- let's show you! Flareon, use fire-spin!"
Flareon smirked and stepped up, opening his mouth wide. Flames poured out, aimed at a burnt tree trump. The fire spinned into a funnel of flames, circling around the tree stump and blasting it. Once the flames faded, the trunk of the tree was even more burnt than before. Flareon yowled triumphantly, flicking his bright yellow tail joyfully.
"Good job Flareon!" Eve called to her Pokemon. Umbreon stepped up and rolled his eyes, casting a bored glance at me before focusing on the tree trunk. He opened his mouth wide, creating at ball of darkness and bright black purple light. Spinning swiftly, he batted the power ball towards the tree stump.
Booom!
The tree trunk exploded brightly, little burnt bits of tree bark being flung all around the clearing.
Woah.
Eve and Flareon's attention turned towards Umbreon. Flareon glanced at Umbreon, respect and admiration reflecting in his bright eyes. Eve stood and smiled, dashing over to the Dark type pokemon. "Wow Umbreon that was so amazing!" She giggled happily.
I rushed over to the Umbreon. "Wow that was so cool!" I smiled and said. Umbreon smiled brightly at my comment and chuckled.
"Thanks Espeon. It means a lot."
I nodded and looked away, somewhat embarrassed at my sudden over-enthusiastic attitude towards the dark type pokemon.
When I glanced around, I saw that Flareon's expression had changed from respect to jealousy, which he obviously was trying (and failing) to hide. I shrugged and stepped over to the edge of the clearing, sitting and watching the fuming Flareon and the proud Umbreon.
Flareon suddenly stood, looking upset with his ears back and his tail flicking irritably. "FLAREEEEE!" He growled bravely, running forward and leaping into the air. He opened his jaws and breathed fire onto one of the practice target tree stumps. Large flames blew up the target, creating bright beautiful sparks to fly in the air. Flareon's flames died away as he fell to the ground, landing on all four paws skillfully.
Eve's face widened to a proud grin, but before she could react, Umbreon's loud growled caused her to turn her head around suddenly. Umbreon stood in a battle ready pose, his bright red eyes fading from their original color, to a bright glowing blue shade. A huge rock from the side of the clearing suddenly burst into the air, being levitated by the dark type pokemon. Umbreon used his psychic powers to make the rock move forward swiftly. The rock crashed into the practice target tree, smashing it to the ground as an explosion of little bark and wood bits came raining down. The tree trunk was completely smashed be Umbreon's boulder, and I opened my mouth wide in astonishment.
Flareon grimaced and looked away. Umbreon ignored him and glanced at me hopefully. I looked back and forth from Umbreon back to Flareon until it finally hit me... These two pokemon were competing to win my admiration. I felt anger pulse through me, but I took control of the feeling and sat calmly, not looking at either Eevee evolution pokemon and instead watching the trainer girl squeal with delight at her pokemons' skills.
"Wow you two! You did so great! I'm so proud!" She laughed loudly, flying over and scooping the two pokemon in her arms, hugging them tightly. Umbreon looked at Flareon with burning red eyes, but the fire type didn't react to his cold stare. Umbreon scoffed at the Flareon ignoring him, and stuck his nose in the air proudly, smirking and closing his eyes.
Why would they compete over me??
