It was late at night when I decided to go to the kiosk and look at the stars. Jefferson, Nina, and Lilibelle hadn't showed up yet, another thing for me to stress about. Even though it had been a tiring day, I was still unable to fall asleep.
I reached the shimmering building and sat down in the nearest bench. The fresh breeze grazed my skin and I could smell the sweet aroma of the cherry blossoms. The night sky was dotted with silver stars, occasionally stirred by a shooting star. The moon's light made a halo around the kiosk, making everything even more magical. I sat there, entranced by the enchanting sight, when I heard slight shuffling.
"Who's there?" I called out. However, he didn't answer, just sat right next to me, his sharp green eyes staring at me through the darkness.
"Why are you out so late?" he questioned.
"Taking advantage of the lack of curfews," I replied, trying to lighten the mood. Nevertheless, I knew that nothing about this was lighthearted and fun. We were restless, we were lost; we were confused. Pan let out a breathless laugh and looked away.
"You're agitated," he stated simply. I arched my eyebrows, but knew that he had figured me out in less than a minute. "Oh, shut up, I know that because I'm like that too," he said, as if reading my thoughts. Which I guess wasn't entirely impossible.
"About earlier today..." I started, but Pan cut me off.
"It was nothing, seriously."
"Well, it was something to me," I said truthfully. Honestly, I hadn't stopped mulling it over since I had gotten to my room. Practically all afternoon. I knew that he was Peter Pan and the whole monster with no feelings thing, but I had a feeling he wasn't all that bad. Or I tried to convince myself, needing some type of comfort as I realized I was falling for the bad guy. He turned to look at me, his gaze softening when he met my eyes. Before I knew it, or had time to think, Pan's lips were on mine. I didn't pull away, however, but closed my eyes and leaned into him. He pulled me closer, as if making sure I didn't go away.
The flowers around us began to hum louder, the soft lights around the kiosk grew brighter, and the light breeze turned into a gust. I wasn't sure if I was controlling it, all I knew is that I could get used to this. Pan pulled away first, touching his forehead with mine.
"I thought you hated me, lost girl," he whispered.
"I thought so too."
