The Rules of a Gentleman

Four

“Sorry I'm late,” a girl apologized, taking a seat in front of Oliver. She took off her coat and tucked the strands of brunet hair behind her ears.

“No, no, it’s alright,” Oliver said with a smile. She’d seen a lot of girls in his life, and this Renée girl—by far—was the most beautiful he’d seen. Alexander wasn’t kidding when he said that she was hot, too. “I'm Oliver—Oliver Teal,” he said.

“Renée,” she replied as a small smile crept on her face. “Renée Stone.”

“Now that introduction is all over and that we’re all here, let’s order some food—I'm starving,” Allison said happily, taking a seat beside Renée.

Logan chuckled charmingly. “Alright, then,” he said, raising his hand up, signaling one of the workers to take their order.

Once the waiter left, Oliver turned to Renée, in hopes that Allison would be forced to keep a conversation up with Logan. “So, I heard that you work for Shinx, how is it?” he asked, taking a sip of water.

Renée laughed. “I love working there, actually,” she admitted. “The atmosphere is great and the coffee in the morning is the best.”

Oliver smiled. “Oh, that’s great,” he said. He didn’t think that she wanted them to know about his boss. “So, what about the boss—I’ve been hearing quite a bit of rumors,” he said, continuing the conversation.

Renée shook her head. “As long as anything I say would be held against me, then I wouldn’t say that Mr. Cross is my favorite person.”

A smile quickly found its way on Oliver’s face. He didn’t know anything about Alexander’s work—it would be a great to have something against Alexander later on. “Oh, don’t worry about that,” Oliver said.

Renée smiled. “Oh, then Mr. Teal, tell me, what do you do?” she asked, clapping her hands excitedly. “You must earn quite a bit for wearing such an expensive blazer—or is that just your way of picking up girls?” she joked.

Oliver and Logan chuckled. “Oliver here doesn’t need suits to pick up girls,” Logan said.

Renée turned to him. “Oh, really?” she asked with a small smirk.

“Yeah,” he replied. “Go on; ask him what he does for living, and if that doesn’t work, then just chat it up with him for five minutes.”

Allison chuckled, tilting her head to the side. “You're quite a wingman, aren’t you?” she said, her eyes meeting Logan’s.

Logan returned the grin. “Nah, just looking out for my friend,” he replied with a small shrug. Truth to be told, he only wanted to impress Allison, as well as keep Oliver busy with Renée so that he could make his moves on Allison.

“Well, then what do you do for work, Oliver?” Renée asked.

Oliver smiled sincerely; he wasn’t so fond of the topic since it usually brought millions of questions. “I'm a doctor,” he replied.

She giggled, and stared at him. She didn’t believe Oliver. Renée turned to Logan, who nodded in agreement. “No way!” she said, surprised, “You look so young—too young.”

He smiled. Even though his career path wasn’t his favorite topic to talk about, it still felt a little smug and flattering whenever he talked about it with others. “Nah, I'm still at school,” he replied, “I'm still going to do my Doctor’s Degree for Cardiologist, and after that—I'm done school and I'm officially a doctor.”
