I was walking around the venue on my own listening to music with my headphones on when someone pulled one out my ear. I tried to keep walking and went to put my headphone back in but the person grabbed my wrist stopping me. I looked up and saw jack smiling down at me,
“We’re going to get lunch you wanna come” he asked, I shook my head but he put on a puppy dog face “please ri”
“I can’t, I’ve got something to do” I said.
“Ok, see you later then” he said hugging me before running off. In all honesty I have nothing to do, I just want to be alone. I found a quiet spot and climbed up a tree I found, sitting on one of the branches so no one could see me. I had been sitting up there for a while when someone threw a rock at me. I looked down to see Alan looking up at me,
“Come hang out with me” he asked, I shook my head and he started pouting at me “please, we can go annoy Austin” I shook my head again. He started climbing up the tree and sat on the branch beside me. “What’s wrong with rileykins”, rileykins, the fuck, when did that name start.
“Nothing, im fine” I lied.
“Something’s wrong, you look down and this is your dream so you should be happy, now tell me what’s going through your little head” I leaned against him and shook my head. “I’ve got an idea, come on” he said and jumped out the tree pulling me with him. We went to one of the stages and he pulled me into the crowd.
“Why are we here” I asked curiously as he pulled me further into the crowd.
“You needed a distraction and you always say music is the best one” he answered. He stopped when we got to a spot he liked and I hugged him quickly before listening to the music, it was all time low. We watched their set then Blessthefall before Alan had to go to his set so I went with him. About half way through their set sky text me saying we had an interview so I had to get to it. Alan looked over at me as I started to leave so I mouthed ‘interview’ to him and he nodded. I walked to where sky had told me to go. We were getting interviewed under a tree and everyone else was already there by the time I turned up. I sat down beside sky before the interview started. I wasn’t really listening, I had zoned out and was just staring off into space until sky nudged my arm. I looked at her questioningly before looking at the interviewer who had the mic pointed at me.
“Sorry what was the question” I asked quietly, she looked at me annoyed before answering.
“What is warped tour like?”
“It’s good, I’ve made a lot of new friends, some of them are like big brothers to me now, I don’t think there’s anyone on tour I don’t get along with”
“That’s strange because I’ve heard you don’t get along with bury the forgotten”
“Just one of them the rest are cool” she looked at me like she wanted more information but I just looked away. She started asking the guys questions so I zoned out again and leaned my head on skys shoulder.
“You ok” she whispered to me, I nodded but could tell she wouldn’t believe me but instead of her saying anything else she just let me zone out and lean on her until the end of the interview. After the interviewer left the guys all moved round and sat in front of me and sky and sky put her arm around me. “So what’s wrong?”
“Nothing, just tired”
“ri we know you well enough to know that’s a lie, now what’s wrong” dean said
“Is it cause there’s always so many people around” Flynn asked, I nodded but it wasn’t exactly the whole reason. They left it at that and went to get food but I stayed behind and wrote down some ideas in my lyric book. I decided to go back to our bus when it started getting dark. I was nearly at the bus when someone grabbed my wrist and I looked up to see jack smiling down at me again.
“You coming to the party on pierce the veils bus” he asked but I just shook my head “please, you didn’t come to lunch with us earlier so come party with us”
“Im tired Jacky, I’ll hang out with you another day” he let go of my wrist and hugged me before running off somewhere. I finally got onto the bus and only sky was there, the guys had probably gone to the party. I sat down beside her and saw her watching the interview from earlier.
“Wanna read the comments” she asked. I always read comments on YouTube to see if there are any funny arguments. I nodded and she scrolled down. There were a few comments about how they came to this interview because other bands had been talking about us. The ones that really caught my attention though were the ones that said I seemed like a bitch and ones that said I was high or stoned. Of course people had replied to these ones defending me. “why don’t we go watch lion king” sky asked shutting the lid of the laptop, I nodded and she got up, walking to the back lounge she started singing I just can’t wait to be king.
