One Step Closer/ Twelve
“Oooh…look at those shoulders,” hissed Austyn, as Hadrian stood in perfect bowl form…he then took his steps and released the ball. It hit, leaving two pins on the right…she applauded, as Hadrian walked to the conveyor, looking at her with a pleasing smile. She then gazed to Criss. “So how was your night with ‘Mr. baby mama drama’?”
“It was nice…we watched movies, and talked about things,” smiled Criss, pushing her hair behind her ear. Hadrian stood again, ready to pick up his spares…she glanced back to Austyn. “Did you call up Had to come over last night?”
“Nah. I was nose deep into those brochures. Then I took a shower…then I informed my ‘fans’, that I will no longer be in the business anymore. Then I called it a night,” answered Austyn. “I really needed some alone time to actually think about things, instead of crying about it all,”
“Wow…that is good,” said Criss. “But you do know if you want to talk, I’m here for you,”
Austyn nodded.
“I cleaned it up, baby!” yelled Hadrian, as he walked back to the seats. Austyn gave him daps, and leaned onto his shoulders. “You sure did!”
Alonzo stood up, dusting his hands. He walked to the conveyor belt to snag his ball, as he was up next.
“Go Alonzo!” cheered Criss. He looked back to her beautiful smile, and returned one of his own. He then took his bowling stance…
“You two actually do look cute together,” said Austyn. Criss looked to her, not quite sure how to react to that comment. “So, are you two together, or what?”
“Um…or what,” replied Criss. “We are just enjoying each other’s company…seeing where things go,”
“‘Enjoying each other’s company’, is what old folks do, until it’s time for them to die,” said Hadrian, as Austyn snickered. “I can tell that you guys have a thing for each other. Stop shittin around, and just do the damn thing,”
“STRIKE!” yelled out Alonzo.
“WHAAAAT?! This cat has been bowlin strikes in a row! You been hustling us, or you are the luckiest sumbitch in this bowling alley tonight!” yelled Austyn, as Criss laughed. “I want a rematch!”
“I want some pizza,” gritted Alonzo. “I’m hungry,”
“Okay…let’s order a pizza,” said Hadrian, as they advanced to the booths. “C’mon lab partner, help me get the beer,”
Criss and Hadrian walked to the counter, as Alonzo and Austyn sat at the booth table. She looked to him. “So…how is the little one?”
