2: Maya's Heart

Maya's pov

My name is Maya Hart. I'm a senior in high school and I'm eighteen years old. My best friends are, Riley Matthews, my best friend for life who's a total goof and would love to spend her life fixing yours, Farkle Mincus, he's super smart and plans on taking over the world, and Lucas Friar, from Texas and is almost every girls dream boy,

Getting back to me, I've only ever been in one relationship. I was totally in love with the guy, so in love I did whatever it took to keep him. I followed him to parties and even avoided breaking up with him when I caught him cheating.

When did this relationship end? Today: Sunday October 21 2015 at 11:15pm. Where? Outside some sketchy party I wouldn't have gone to if it wasn't for him. Why did it end? He didn't love me and never did. After I caught him with girl after girl he was the one to end it with those heartbreaking words.

Now that I have all my thoughts figured out I can actually talk about it. I don't know who to tell? I mean Riley's my best friend but it's really late and she has a self appointed bedtime of 8:00pm. I could call Farkle but his parents wouldn't appreciate a 11:30 phone call. Lucas is probably up and his parents are out of town.I picked up the phone and waited.

"Maya?"
"Cowboy?"
"What's wrong?"
"How do you know something's wrong?"
"I know you Maya, now tell me what it is."
"I'm an idiot."
"What happened?"
"Zach told me he never loved me. I mean he put me through..." I was cut off
"Where is he?" He sounded angry
"It doesn't matter."
"Of course it does! He hurt you Maya!"
"It was my fault. I kept forgiving him for everything. You all tried to tell me he was bad news and I ignored you guys. I caught him cheating and I apologized!"
"You were in love." He sympathized
"Well loves a one way street." I sounded disappointed
"Pack your stuff up. I'm picking you up and you're going to spend the night at my house."
"Listen Ranger Rick, if my mom found out I slept over at your house I'd be dead."
"So you and Zach never..." I cut him off
"Please don't say his name we broke up half an hour ago and I'm still really really hurt."
"If you come over you don't have to go to sleep feeling hurt."
" I doubt it but I'll come. You don't have to pick me up."

I packed my bag then I wrote a note to my mom telling her I was going to Lucas' house. I left my phone next to the note so she couldn't call to make me go home. Putting on my jacket I opened the door and walked outside. It was a five minute walk to Lucas' house but it was still dark out and I was a little nervous. I finally reached his house and knocked on the door. He opened the door after the first knock.

He moved to the side so I could go in. Once I was in I smiled weakly at him. He opened his arms and hugged me tightly. I cried a little into his chest.
"Hey," he picked up my head "You deserve someone better."
"I'm done with relationships."
"You don't know that. One day you're going to meet a guy who's going to treat you like gold."
"Yeah well you and Farkle are good enough for now." I let go of him and took off my jacket. And set down my bag.
He guided me into his living room and started going through movies.
"You know it's a school night right?"
"Okay no movie just talking."
"We don't have to talk about my feelings if you don't want to."
"I want to we're friends."
"He just said it so harshly. He was yelling at me the entire time. Like first he drags me to this party filled with alcohol, then he drags me out and starts screaming at me. And I know I'm making a big deal out of it but..."
"What exactly did he say?"
"That he doesn't love me and he never did."
"When I see him I'm going to set him straight."
"Please don't."
"How hurt are you?"
"Enough to give up on love."
"No one should ever feel like that."
"I'm extremely tired, where am I sleeping?" I said changing the subject
"Does my bed work?"
"Where are you going to sleep?"
"My bed if that's okay."
"Yeah."
We walked into his room, it had a bathroom attached so I changed in there. I laid on his bed facing away from him. He wrapped his arm around me and pulled me closer. I felt safe.
