Lux
First day of school and my brother wasn't here to do it with me. Yes he would have been graduated by now, if he had even finished high school, but he isn't there to stand by my side before I walk into hell. It was my last year of high school and I couldn't wait to get through it.
My brother, Calum Hood, is the bassist in 5 Seconds of Summer He was supposed to be here with me right now, annoying me about everything I do but he wasn't. He was off with his band. I'm proud of him, that he got this far in his career and was still going strong but I miss him. Sometimes I'm sure he forgets about me.
I tried to run a brush through my hair, but the thick curls just turned into puffy messes so I gave up, throwing my hair up into a messy bun. I changed from my pajamas into ripped jeans and an oversized sweater that I stole from Calum's bandmate, Michael. I threw some makeup on my face at an attempt to hide the sleep deprevation that was written all over my face. After giving myself a quick glance in the mirror, I trudged down the stairs, dreading the drive to school with my mom.
"Hey honey." My mom said with a small smile.
"Hey." I sighed.
I was hoping that when I got here Calum would be down here ready to start a waffle war. We always did on the first and last days of school, it was our tradition. It started when we were young. Cal threw a waffle at Mali, and from there it turned into a full on war of flying waffles, whipped cream, and chocolate chips. The first time it got us grounded, and the three of is had to clean the kitchen when we got home, but since then, our parents had just given up.
I grabbed a plate and threw a couple of waffles on it. I sat on the counter, and swung my legs slightly as I ate. I hummed to myself, hoping my mom wouldn't ask what was wrong. Whenever I talk about Calum, I get upset, and usually end up crying. I love the boy to death, he was my best friend, and I miss him like crazy.
I finished up eating and cleaned up after myself.
"I'll be in the car." I muttered, grabbing my head phones and the car keys.
I stepped outside and put my headphones on, I turned up the volume when Wrapped Around Your Finger started playing. I teared up a bit, missing the guys more than ever right now. I got into the passengers seat of the car and rested my head against the window. I closed my eyes and drowned out my thoughts in the music.
I heard muffled yells coming from around me. Confused, I took out my earbuds, the yells instantly getting louder.
"Lux!" The all too familiar voices screamed in unison. I whipped around, coming face to face with my brother and his bandmates.
"What the fuck?" I shouted, getting out of the car, followed by four lanky idiots stumbling out of the back seat.
"Miss me?" Calum held out his arms.
Tears started to form in my eyes as I nodded. I ran into him, jumping into his arms, wrapping my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist.
"Fuck." I mumbled under my breath.
Cal squeezed me tightly, as if it was the last hug he was ever going to give me.
"Hey, we missed you too!" Luke whined
I loosened my grip on Calum, and he placed me down softly
"Shut up." I laughed, slapping Luke in the face lightly, before pulling him into a tight hug.
"You're so mean to me." He pouted as I pulled away.
I shook my head and moved towards Ashton. He let out a small giggle and held out his arms.
"My favorite short person." I laughed as I hugged him.
"I'm almosta foot taller than you." He argued as he rested his chin on the crown of my head.
"Just let me have my dreams that I'm taller than all of you." I chuckled.
When I pulled away from Ash, I spun around to face Mikey. He squatted down a bit and lifted his arms. I ran into him, and he lifted me off the ground slightly and spun around.
"Saved the best for last." I joked as he put me back down.
"Ha! Told you guy I was her favorite." He smiled proudly at the boys. "Wait a second. Is that my sweater?"
He eyed the clothing item, narrowing his eyes.
"Yeah, I took it before you guys left, I was cold and it was there. I just didn't feel like giving it back." I shrugged.
"Keep it, it looks better on you." He winked, causing me to blush lightly.
Calum slid in between us, slinging his arm around my shoulders.
"Lets go kid, you've got school."
