Were only six of them. The strongest. There were two more of each power type.
Earth
Light
Water
Fire
Wind
Darkness
Totaling up to 18. To become DIATON they had to prove their powers were superior from the other two of their type. The 18 of them were close and drew closer as time went on. At age 15 they were chosen as the 18. And at 15 and a 1/2 only 12 would remain in competition. At 16 years the final six were decided and formed the first group to go up against Nature and Time.
But DIATON is not the story of going to fight, but the story of how the 18 still stuck together even when they were left behind.
Because, even the origional STF couldn't stand alone without support. They needed help as well.
