"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

I sit there in silence not knowing what to do or what will happen next. I do know one thing though, that is if I give up I will not be able to help anyone. "So they found there next victim huh?" Asks the black haired girl. I do not fully understand what the question means but I nod my head anyway.              I guess I could consider myself a victim.                                                                                                                                  "Hmm I wonder how many they have now" She asks while getting up and dusting herself off. "What do you mean" I ask. "well they have been collecting people for years now, Collecting people for there sick, disgusting studies" She says with complete disgust in her voice. "what is your name" I ask. "My name is Maya, I was put in here when I was 10, I haven't seen daylight in 7 years"                                              "7 YEARS!" I yell "WHY".                                                                                                                                                          "Because these sick people want to know how different there artificial humans are to real humans, you'd be surprised on how many times a week they take me to experiments"She answers. "how many people do they have" I ask. "uh I'd say about 10" she says. "honestly I thought there would be more" I say slightly confused. "They don't need that many, they all want us for the same reason: for us to be there puppets ,do what they say and be treated worse than some of there own creations" she says with sadness in her voice. "Well, my name is Winter" I say trying to change the subject. "Oh I know I heard the guards talking about you" She says with a sympathetic smile on her face. "Do you know what they do to the failed experiments?" She says with the same sympathetic look on her face. "No".

"They kill them" she says with disgust

"That's horrible"  I say with the same disgust that she holds on her face. "mmmm" she says. We both just stare at each other thinking about this horrible place with sick motives and we also think about how we will never be the same. Behind Maya I see markings on the walls. Markings to show how long she's been here. It looks like she gave up at about 2 years. Then she starts to sing. "what are you doing" I ask "7 years in this place, I had to pass the time by doing something"She says and then she continues to sing.

{A/N: This song is "The Call" By Regina Spektor}                                                                                                        It started out as a feeling

Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word
And then that word grew louder and louder
'Til it was a battle cry
I'll come back when you call me
No need to say goodbye

Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never been this way before
All you can do is try to know who your friends are
As you head off to the war
Pick a star on the dark horizon and follow the light
You'll come back when it's over
No need to say goodbye
You'll come back when it's over
No need to say goodbye
