The room was silent, no talking apart from the teacher who occasionally said a few words about the lesson, which sounded as if it were just a jumble of incoherent words. Winter break had just ended and we were a few days into the first week, meaning that no one was in a good mood. The silence was a normal thing in this class, no one ever spoke. The most to escape the students lips were a shudder from how cold the air was around us, even though the teacher, Ms. Hancock, claimed that the heaters were on.

I stared down at the piece of paper in front of me, furrowing my eyebrows at the algebra question that could have passed as another language, filled with number and letters. I was good at math, I tried my best, and always got good scores. But I was 100% sure that the teacher couldn't even solve this, let alone me and the others in this class. Giving up, I focused more on the area around me, most of the students looked as if they were struggling too, whilst others had given up completely, like me. I try to listen to see if I could hear a machine running or something, while pulling the sleeves of my sweater down, listening for anything that could prove that the heaters were in fact on. All I heard though, were a lonesome pair of feet walking down the hallway, seemingly getting closer to our class, followed by an obnoxiously loud knocking on the door of our class, making the noise echo throughout the room. Jack Johnson, a boy in my class, stood up to go see who was outside, whilst the whole class stared. He furrowed his eyebrows at whoever was standing at the door, before slowly opening to let who ever it was in, "what are you doing here?" Jack said to the person in a curious, hushed voice.

"This is your class? Sweet." A more husky voice replied to Jack's words, though it was a lot louder, and just as obnoxious as the knocking before hand. A boy pushed past Jack Johnson's shoulder, entering the classroom as everyone continued to stare. "Can I help you?" Ms.Hancock looked up from her desk to glare at the boy, obviously annoyed by the boy interrupting the class. He dug into one of his pockets to retrieve a pale yellow piece of paper, handing it over to the teacher. Her eyes skimmed over the piece of paper before looking back up at him, "AP Algebra?" She questioned, as if she didn't believe he could be in this class, hell, I doubted it too.

The boy dressed as if he was any other boy in school who didn't have any future, he wore a too large white shirt and a pair of basketball shorts, and it definitely did not go with his more matured features, the boy looked as if he could have been twenty, with droopy eyes and a more serious look resting on his face. Though he did have short cut, very boyish hair, making that and the clothing the only indication of his real age.

He nodded his head at the teachers question, obviously knowing that she didn't believe him, "Mr. Lamberg told me to transfer, he said that my scores were good but I needed an environment that could help me focus." He almost mimicked the teachers voice, showing that he wasn't exactly excited about being here, I didn't blame him though.

The teacher nodded her head and lets out a sigh, turning her head to the class who were patiently waiting for her to speak, "this is Jack Gilinsky, make sure he feels welcome, help him out if he needs it." She said rather unenthusiastically. He shot a smile to some people in the back, who were obviously his friends and he basically jogged over to where they were sitting. "No, no, no, come back here." Mrs. Hancock spoke out again, signalling for him to come back, "You're here to focus, not have fun with your friends. You can sit in the front row." Her eyes scanned over people in the front, looking for an empty seat,

Oh no.

"Ah, there's a seat free right next to Luna. Luna, raise you're hand please." Hesitantly, I slowly raised my arm up, signalling where I was. A closed mouth smile came across his face when his eyes skimmed over me, and I lowered my head when he started to walk over, ignoring him when i heard him put his back down.

"Hey," The brown haired boy said, as he sat down in his seat. I moved my head to the right slowly, making eye contact with him, "Hi." I replied bluntly, trying to avoid conversation, though Jack had other things in mind.

"I'm Jack." He replied as if I was listening, "I heard." I tell him, keeping a straight face.

"Luna." I replied, I highly doubted that he was listening, he was so distracted by his friends straight away. "I heard." He mocked my words, causing me too roll my eyes, the boy had said five words and I already disliked him. Though, I only liked three other people in that damn school, so it wasn't hard to dislike some one for me.

"You know, I knew this class would have hot girls in it, but I didn't anticipate sitting next to one." He flirted with me, sending a wink my way, "I think this class will be good." He said more to himself than he did to me, smiling a little.

"Better for some than others."
