"Has anything happened?" A voice says.

I look over and she y/n's mom. "Nothing."

She sits down in a chair on the other side of the room. "(your parents name) is still at home. I thought it would be better for him if he stayed there. He's having a hard time handling all of this."

I just nod in response. Then we sit.

There's not much else to say, the person that we both love the most is lying in a hospital bed and we might never see her again.

Y/ns parents love her so much and she loves them too, when we're at school she calls them practically daily. She's told me before that they talk about me a lot, more now that her parents have met me a few times.

The first time I met them I was so nervous I thought I might throw up.

It was the summer in between our second and third year of college. We both left college for our hometowns during the summer, but we lived seven hours apart so we had to do long distance.

I came to y/ns town to visit for a few days and she told me I could stay with her and her parents.

Y/n called me while I was driving down and she kept telling me not to worry about it, her parents would love me. Even if she was sure, I wasn't, and I needed them to like me, you can't have the person you're datings parents not like you. And y/n loves her parents so much that if they didn't give me their approval she probably couldn't continue with our relationship.

When I pulled into their driveway, y/n ran outside to hug me and her parents waited inside. Afterwards, we went in the house and y/n introduced me to her parents. They both hugged me and were very happy to meet me.

I ended up being worried about nothing, after those few days they loved me and I started visiting more and more. By the end of the summer I had probably spent more time at y/ns parents house than at my own.

*knock knock*

y/ns mom and I both turn to the door to see y/ns doctor walk in.

"Hello Dr. Quinn," y/ns mom says.

"Hey," Dr. Quinn replies. "I'm sorry to have to do this, but visiting hours are over."

"Alright," says y/ns mom. "Goodbye, Newt." She goes and looks at y/n one last time and then leaves.

"Would you like me to give you a minute?" Dr. Quinn asks.

"Yeah, thanks."

I walk over to the side of the bed and kiss y/ns forehead. "I love you."
