A Love Song for You (Narry Oneshot)

His hands were sweating as he was standing on one of the tables of the canteen. Guitar in his hands and lyrics on a paper in front of him. He was so nervous. What if Niall didn’t like his song? He worked so hard on it and after Louis convinced him he could do it and Niall would find his song beautiful, he had enough confidence to stand up, climb on a table to have the perfect view of Niall and perform his song. But everyone was watching him now and what if he messed up the lyrics? Everyone would laugh at him and his surprise for Niall would be ruined. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea.

He met Niall a few weeks ago when he was absently strumming his guitar and quietly singing a self-made song. Suddenly a shadow appeared and Harry looked up to meet the most beautiful blue eyes in the world. He saw a blonde, cute boy from about his own age. And with the sun shining in the boy’s face, he looked like an angel.

‘’Hello, I’m Niall.’’

‘’Uhh, I’m Harry.’’

Harry had no idea why the boy was talking to him but he kind of liked it. Niall kept looking at harry but stayed silent. When Harry was about to open his mouth to say something, the other boy suddenly broke the silence.

‘’I heard you sing. You’re really good.’’

Harry blushed at the compliment and lowered his head to look at his hands in his lap. Niall sat down next to him and asked:

‘’Can you sing another song?’’

Harry furiously shook his head because he was defiantly not going to sing a song for a stranger.

‘’Would you sing for me if I were your friend?’’

Harry answered by nodding his head and after that day at the park, they talked every day. No matter where they were, they talked about everything. They often came to the spot where they had met. And Harry had promised Niall there that he would sing for him one day. And although he had promised, Harry never really found the right time to actually do it. But now it was their one week anniversary as boyfriends, and Harry found this the perfect timing to finally sing his self-written song for Niall.

His song was about their first kiss. It was exactly a week ago when Niall blurted out his feelings for Harry. They sat in the same spot as where they had met. Just talking and laughing about nothing special. Niall became visibly nervous when Harry started talking about the girls in his class. Niall had quietly asked Harry if he liked someone and Harry had said yes. Because that was the truth. Only Harry wasn’t talking about those girls, no, he was only interested in one particular blonde, cute boy with the most beautiful blue eyes in the world.

Niall wasn’t really thinking when he said:

‘’I like you.’’

And Harry wasn’t really thinking either when he slowly leaned in and pecked Niall on the lips.

‘’I like you too.’’

And that’s how it started.

His knees were trembling and he couldn’t move. He was still standing on the table and Niall was watching him with a confused look on his face. It was completely silent in the canteen and Harry started to doubt himself. Maybe this wasn’t the best idea. He was sure his face was the same colour as a tomato and the butterflies in his stomach were not making the situation better. Suddenly someone started to laugh and point at Harry. The whole canteen joined and soon everyone, except Niall and Louis of course, was making fun of Harry. He felt so embarrassed. He jumped off the table, grabbed his song and guitar and ran out. He just ran, he didn’t know where he was going and he didn’t care either.  Tears were making Harry’s cheeks wet and after a few minutes running, he was so exhausted that he collapsed in a grass field. After a few moments he looked around and he saw a familiar place. He recognized it instantly as the place where he and Niall had met, where they had more than thousand conversations and most importantly where they had shared their first kiss and where Niall had asked Harry to be his boyfriend.

Tears were still streaming down his face as he heard his name. A panting Niall came running at him and stopped in front of him. Niall opened his arms and Harry wrapped his arms tightly around his boyfriend’s torso. Niall held him, whispered sweet things in his ear and rocked back and forth to calm him down. After a while Harry sat up straight again.

‘’What happened?’’

‘’I wanted to sing a song for you because I promised you but I was so nervous and I couldn’t do it and everyone started to laugh and-‘’, Harry was rambling but Niall made him shut up by pressing his lips to Harry’s for a sweet kiss.

‘’You can sing it now.’’, Niall smiled.

And Harry hesitantly grabbed his song and guitar and started to sing. He couldn’t look Niall in the eyes so he kept his eyes glued to his guitar while he sang the song. When he sang the last note, he was crushed by Niall in a hug and they fell backwards.

‘’Thankyouthankyouthankyou!’’, Niall peppered Harry’s face with kisses until he finally kissed Harry’s lips.

‘’It was perfect. Thank you.’’, Niall said.

Harry blushed and mumbled a ‘’you’re welcome’’. They moved until Niall was sitting in between Harry’s legs and Harry hugged him tightly from behind.

They stayed like that until the stars appeared and the darkness surrounded them. They walked home with their hands entwined. Niall was about to go the other way to his house when Harry pulled him to his house, to his bedroom. They climbed into Harry’s bed and they felt so happy to have each other.

‘’You’re perfect.’’, Niall said as he nuzzled his head in Harry’s neck and fell asleep.

Harry blushed again and closed his eyes with a happy sigh and a big smile on his face.
