I screamed. It was staring them right in the eyes, and before I knew it, my parents were gone. I knew that at least they'd go to heaven, unlike the enemies. I heard another bomb in the distance, not too far away . I heard my brother Raymond choke on his breath. He was crying now, and so was I. It hit too hard, but I couldn't let my brother see me have an emotional breakdown, he'd break down. I had to let him know it was okay. Even if it wasn't.
We sat there in shock and depression as we fought to realize that it was true. We were alone. Nona, Nono, Mother, and Father. All gone. From here we were lost and afraid. We were next, and it was no longer safe. All we had was each other.
"Lisa?" He called
"Yes Raymond,"
"What now?"
I didn't know, but I knew we couldn't stay in our family's pizzeria too long.
"We leave," I responded
"Where to?" He asked as blinked away the last of his tears
"A new place. Somewhere with food, with love, with happiness,"
"But ther-"
"But there isn't a way or place to get there. I know," I admitted. He looked down.
We packed up all the bread and pizza from the store into boxes and hurried through the the halls. We knew we couldn't hide in our home, they'd find us, so we headed to the back of the shop into the kitchen to think of something. We saw a letter on the counter.
We ran towards it and opened it with a kitchen knife. I pulled it out and we read.
Dear Raymond and Lisa,
By now we're gone, but I know you're not. At this time you need to hide. There's no where to do so, except one place. Go to the freezer and and open the door. There's a cart with stacked pans on it. Move that and behind it is a door. The door is small so be prepared to crawl, but it's also locked. I've left the key in this envelope. Make sure you lock it behind you. Follow the tunnels and you'll arrive at an underground hideout. There's plenty of food and water in the fridge that I made for this specific case. Stay there as long as you can and spare your food. Your love for each other and God will keep you going, don't forget that but lock that door and all the others down there along the way. I love you, and stay safe.
Sincerely,
                 Nona
"You know what this means Raymond?" I asked
"We go?"
"We go."
