"Are we going to die?" Asked Raymond
"If you don't move faster, than yes, we will!"
We hustled into the cabinet, and started to crawl our way down the path. We heard a bang and then a voice, it was coming from the room.
"In here boys," said a German accented man, "Someone was here, recently. I can tell,"
Raymond and I kept crawling as fast as we could without making a sound. We needed to get to the train as fast as possible.
"Do you think there's more to the tunnels?" Asked another German man
"I don't think so, but I wouldn't cross it off the list."
"Who do you think was down here Sir?"
" It looks like it was kids. I don't know who or how many, but we need to find them and take them to the prison, or better yet, kill them.
At this point, I knew Raymond was about to cry. He looked at me and nodded, reassuring me that he wasn't.
We crawled for about half an hour until we reached and opening. It was the train station Nona told us to go to. We walked through a crowd of sad worried people, over to a big old man who looked familiar. He had light grey hair, blue eyes, and large nose. He was definitely Nona's cousin.
"Excuse me...um..are you Mary Cunningham's cousin?"
"Lisa! Raymond! I'm Tony, you can call me Uncle Tony if you want,"
"Oh okay. We were in the hideout that Nona and Nono built, and we heard voices. The Nazi's found it, so we came here under Nona's directions." I explained
"Where's Mary then?" He asked very confused
" She died 5 days ago, so did our parents and Nono,"
We stood there in an awkward silence for a few seconds, a sad few.
"We don't have much time then. All these people were friends of your Nona's. They came down here to hide as well, I told them the train would leave as soon as they found your hideout. That means now,"
He called everyone over and got them onto the train. We entered last with Uncle Tony and made our way to our seats. I pulled out some bread for Raymond to eat.
"So where are we going?" I asked
" To a place called Canada, but first we need to get to France. From there we'll take a boat to America, then get back on a train."
"They won't catch us?"
" They haven't hit France yet, so we need to leave before the suspect us escaping to it. The boat is my Son's, he lives in New York with his wife and kids. He's going to take us there,"
I looked at the wall, imaging a window to the outside, knowing we were under all of the chaos. Everything happened so quickly, I was exhausted, and before I knew it I was asleep.
