Chapter 2
"You just saved me from dying today" I said sighing with relief.
"I think you're exaggerating it" Chris said chuckling. Before I knew it the tardy bell rang giving us the cue to head to our classes.
"Guess I'll be going to my class now, see you later Kam" Cassie said.
"Same here, later" Chris added. I nodded and waved at them before walking into the class late. Senior year was possibly the worst by far. I would have to take a mandatory language class in order to graduate, and lucky me decided to choose Spanish III out of all the other foreign language options because it was apparently 'easy'. Trust me it has already been a week in this class and I am already regretting it here. However, it seems like if I manage to get on the good side of my teacher, Ms. Alvarez, i may actually pass the class.
I took a seat all the way in the back row. I never really liked sitting in the front. One thing I learned from the previous years, it's that the front row is an instant death trap for students. You will get chosen to read the answers, explain the answers, and write it. In which case, not fun at all.
"Buenos Dias Clase!" Ms. Alvarez walked in saying.
"Good Mornin- I mean Buenos Dias Ms. Alvarez " I replied back slightly embarrassed as I saw some faces staring at me. If I wanted to kiss up to the teacher better start early I guess.Ms. Alvarez immediately started to rant that some people were failing her class, and we should study more. It's only been a week and we were already failing, just great. Those work load of homework and random pop quizzes the first week were of no help. Twenty minutes passed and I really wanted to go home but it was only my first class. Maybe I should resort to skipping classes and become a delinquent only to regret it later. Oh who am I kidding, if I can't even stay focused on one subject how will I survive this school year. Trying to focus, her rant finally finished and she passed down a Spanish packet on informal and formal words and wanted us to finish it by the time class was over. Forty minutes of this is just hell.
As I tried to complete the first page someone in my class kept glaring at me. I immediately noticed it because i'm not really used to this. Finding it rather annoying I whispered to her "What do you want?" I think her name was Bella but i'm not so good with names so who cares.
I recalled the instances of what happened last night at the party and she was there. She just glared at me once more and turned around. This was definitely weird, did I do something? Do I have something on my face?
Suddenly i felt a faint vibrate from my phone.
You didn't have to be rude.
An unknown number texted me
Who's this and how did you get my number...? I sent.
Before putting my phone on silent mode a last text appeared.
Your worst nightmare.
This was probably a joke so I ignored it and went back to work. I shockingly finished the packet before the bell rang only to hear a silent applause for me. I was actually happy considering this wasn't as considerably easy at all. The bell rang no less than three minutes later.
"Adios Clase and don't forget your homework." Ms. Alvarez announced as everyonegroaned and was eager to get out of class.
I practically ran out and walked to my locker to grab my English book for my next class. I wanted to avoid Ashley as much as possible because I knew the next time I see him I would probably be dead. Closing my locker I walked to the other side of campus and headed to class. This was actually my favorite by far. A really good looking teacher, no homework, and the most welcoming smiles every time you walk in. I sat my backpack on the floor and got my materials out before placing them on my desk. The smile I had on immediately vanished as Ashley Forrest came walking in with a schedule. Program changes. This explains the empty seat beside me. I cursed myself, out of all the years and days, everything just shot at me all at once. Before confirming with Mr. Tran, the English teacher, he took the seat beside me and the late bell rang."Hey guys, how are you all doing today?" Mr. Tran said obviously in a good mood.
Before anyone could reply he chirped "Guess what class! I have a surprise for you all, we're going to be doing a group project for the next four classes." Guess you can't really judge a class by its first week. I don't really mind group work but I would hate to end up somehow being involved with the demon sitting next to me. Before I knew it I raised my hand in the air waiting for the teacher to call me."Yes Kamari?" Mr. Tran said.
"We can choose our teams right?"
"Im afraid not, i'll choose four people per group."
Shit.
As he called on random names from the people in our class, I was nervous to say the very least and the cold stare from my left was only adding to it.
"Allie, Kamari, Kristen...and Ashley you're in group 2"
Out of all the people I wanted to avoid, I was in a freaking group project with him. Rest in peace Kam. Mr. Tran continued on giving instructions on the assignment and had us all rearrange our seats for the writing project.
"Okay, so you are all writing to Principle Martinez on what we should change about this school and make sure you have supporting reasons. For example, if you want to change the food we eat in the cafeteria make sure to explain why or maybe if you like more field trips this year since its your last, etc., etc."
"This is so stupid." Ashley said aloud. Woah there dude, this is your first day in this class and that is the impression you're going to give?
"Excuse me" Mr. Tran said looking down in the attendance sheet to look for a name before looking up again. "Mr. Forrest did you say something?" Mr. Tran added slightly annoyed.
"This class is S. T. U. P. I. D., stupid" Ashley repeated again.
"Well I am sorry if you are not enjoying this class, there is the door please go have a walk outside." Mr Tran ordered.
"I'm fine." he replied back smirking.
"Ugh your so immature." I added almost instinctively. "Why don't you grow up?" At this point the whole class was staring at me. Wow i'm getting so much attention today, maybe I should have kept my mouth shut."Me grow up? Haha, your the one who's such a asshole all the time. I wonder how you even have friends." he stated.
"Look who's talking hypocrite" I snapped back.
"Okay that's enough!" Mr. Tran yelled.
"Everyone get to work!!" We did what he said. I don't think I have ever seen Mr. Tran this angry. "And as for you both, Mr. Forrest and Ms. Scott, detention."
Thanks a lot, just what I needed to end my day with. I eyed Ashley fuming with anger. I hate him.
------
I hope you all enjoy it. This chapter was mainly an intro of a what Kam has to go through and ooh look who joined the class to make it interesting.
