A/N: Hello guys! This isn't a One Direction fanfic, even though it has Danielle in it.
But who knows? Maybe I'll make sequels to it......
Anyway it's just an idea I had to get out of my head. Feel free to comment your opinion, though bad ones will simply be ignored.
"RAIN!" Her mom voice came up to her room, sharp and clear. Rain's eyes widened as she stuffed the sheets of paper in her drawer, hidden from view, and she ran down the stairs.
"Yes mum?" She asked cautiously, she knew she had done something.
She noticed her mother standing beside the kitchen counter and she groaned mentally.
"What did I tell you to do about the food?" Her mum's voice cut through the air like daggers.
"I- you- you told me to put it back in the fridge.." Rain mumbled.
"And what did you do?" Ruth, her mum demanded.
" I-er- forgot." Rain replied. She shuffled forward to put the food back in the fridge, but her mum stopped her.
"It's okay, it's already rotten. You are such a disappointment!" Her mother left the food on the counter and left. Her last words were like sharp daggers through Rain's heart. Try as she might, Rain never could please her mum. She'd either be too clumsy, or she'd forget. Why can't I be like Diane? She wondered as she thought of her older sister. She's graceful, she's beautiful, she has thick golden hair and sparkling blue eyes, Rain thought as she pulled her dark brown hair in distaste. Mother has pretty green eyes. My eyes are green, but they're not the least bit pretty. Rain would always be the disappointment, the clumsy one, the smart but stupid one. I don't have any talents, she thought. But then she remembered.
I write stories.
But no one ever told her that they were good, because she was too scared that they'll laugh at her. She was too shy. Rain wasn't really a shy person, but she was quite insecure. She never really showed the insecure sides, but she was. Rain took the notebook full of her stories and a pencil and walked to the park. She sat on her usual bench and started writing.
Suddenly, a little puppy came and yipped at her.
"Well hello there." Rain put her notebook and pencil beside her and tickled the dog on his neck. The dog licked her outstretched hand, making her giggle.
"Pepper!" A curly haired young girl runs into view. "Pepper!" She calls again. "God, where is that dog." Rain hears her mumble.
"Excuse me?" Rain calls from her spot. "Is this your dog?" She asks rubbing Pepper's stomach now.
The girl runs over. "Oh thank God you found him! Thank you so much. He is just so energetic." She rolls her eyes, but Rain can tell she's not really bothered by that. "Oh, I'm Danielle, by the way."
"Hi Danielle. I'm Rain." Rain introduces herself.
"Ooohhh! That is such a pretty name!" Danielle exclaims, making her curls bounce.
"Thanks," Rain blushes lightly. "I love your hair." She suddenly remembered that she knew almost everyone in her neighbourhood, but not Danielle. Maybe she moved in the empty house that was two houses away from Rain's....? As if reading her thoughts, Danielle said:
"I moved here just a few days ago. Do you live around here?"
"Hm? Yeah. You guys moved to house number fifteen on Benton Street right?" She asked.
"Do you stalk me?" Danielle asked playfully.
"Um, no, I live at house number seventeen....."
"Ohhh..... Cool, I already found someone my age! Wait what year are you in?" She enquired.
"I'm in year eleven. How about you?" Rain responded.
"Me too! But I don't know what school or I'm going to be in......." Danielle trailed off.
"You're probably going to be at the neighbourhood school just a few blocks away. I go there too." Rain told her.
"Huh. Good to know I'll have someone I know there!"
"Yeah, don't worry. Most people are really friendly there. Some are not. And then there are some that seem nice but are not. But don't worry. I'll show you around."
"Hmmm... I know exactly what you mean...." She nodded knowingly. "Thanks again. I gotta go know. See ya around! C'mon Pepper." Danielle waved and left with Pepper. Rain smiled as she stood up with her notebook and pencil. Danielle seemed like someone nice.... But then again, Rain knew a lot of people-one of her best friends in fact- who wasn't all nice. Rain wondered why she hung out with her. Then she remembered. Because she couldn't hang out with anyone else. But Danielle........ Might turn out the same too, or not. A lot of different thoughts rushed through Rain's head as she walked home. She waved to Mr. Giovanni, the kindly old man who lived across from her.
"Hi Mr. Giovanni!" She called.
"Ciao il mio caro!" He called back. He was Italian, so sometimes he spoke Italian with Rain. It was fun, learning and speaking new languages.
All thoughts of Danielle were suddenly out of her head as she entered her house. Rain had a new idea for a story. She ran up to her room, so she would not forget the idea, and began to write.
