"I try to picture me without you but I can't"

Quentin POV

I stared out my window, fighting back the tears that were threatening to slide down my cheeks. Rhoswyn was gone. She was gone. I didn't even want to think about what probably happened to her. I saw those zombies come out of the forest, why did I just leave her there? I should've brought her back to the town with me. Then she'd still be here, with me.

Maybe I was too hard on her. I was just too angry to think about what I was even saying. Not like that mattered anymore. She was gone. I'd never see her again.

Something inside of me was screaming that she was okay, and I'd see her soon. I wanted it to be true, but I knew it wasn't. I didn't want to live my life believing a lie. I didn't want to live every day of my life expecting Rhoswyn to show up at my doorstep and say hello to me. I just couldn't believe that, it would make me live my life in pain.

I felt the air brush across my face, and I closed my eyes. I had known Rhoswyn since I was five, and had always had a crush on her. I never said anything, afraid of her saying no and it ruining our friendship. At that moment, feeling the crisp night air on my skin, I really wished I did.

As I opened my eyes, I noticed something very unusual; a figure in the streets below. It was surrounded by a dim blue light. When it finally turned around to look at me, I found out where the blue light was coming from; it was emanating from it's eyes. That couldn't be a human-being. Yet it looked all too human to be anything else. It let out a white-noise screech that was the mixture of static, and a human scream. I flinched and jumped back, suppressing a scream.

As I heard more of the those spine-chilling calls/screams, I stared at the creature that was in the street below. It stared at me, it's electric-blue eyes showing no emotion at all. I was still holding back a scream, staring at the human-like monster in the streets. I watched as one after another joined the single monster, and they all stared at me. I just sat there like a caged animal. As they headed towards my house, I backed away from the window and hid under my bed.

Whatever those things were, I didn't want to come face-to-face with one, let alone a pack of them. Who knew what they were capable of?

Ashley POV

I stared out my window, smiling at who I saw outside in the yard next to mine. My smile faded when I saw him with a very beautiful blonde haired girl, though. How dumb could I have been, thinking that Josh could ever actually like me? Maybe I should have never let myself start liking him. I should've known it wouldn't end well for me.

There was something weird about the blonde girl, though. She walked different, and there was an uncertainty in her stance. She almost acted like she didn't know how to walk right. Maybe she had cerebral palsy. It kinda looked like she was scared. What would she be scared of, though? Josh?

My curiosity got the best of me, and I walked away from my window, grabbing a jacket. It was Autumn, and it was at the point where you were cold if you didn't have a jacket, but you were kinda hot when you did wear one. I walked down the stairs, checking my pocket for my phone. When I finally found it in one of the many pockets in my cargo pants, I pulled it out and checked to see if I had any notifications. There were none. I really hated that.

When Josh saw me, his face dropped, and then you could tell he was thinking about something. I wanted to take the hint and walk back home, but I was honestly too curious to turn back. When I got closer, he put on a weak smile and waved. I smiled back and kept on walking towards him.
