A warning

20 2 1

I warned you

But you were so wrapped up in your own mind

You became blind

To anything else

I warned you

I warned you that no matter how hard we tried

Love only dies with time

Still you believed we could pull through

As if this were a movie

Directed by you

But you can't control life

Or the way hearts change

Love is an ocean,

two paths crossing,

a tree that's been cut down too many times,

It changes constantly

It only lasts a little while before the inevitable split

Love doesn't grow back.

You are not the director of love

And even if you were

All movies come to an end

It's unavoidable

But you were too lost in my eyes

To see what lies beyond

I warned you...

And you proved me wrong

When it seemed like we were all but lost

Like the walls we built were built out of sand

Like the earth beneath us was crumbling

From the aftermath of an earthquake

That shook the sand walls until they all fell

You heated the walls with the fire burning inside you

And turned them to an unbreakable glass

And we watched through our walls

As the aftermath calmed

And the dark skies cleared

I warned you...

And you proved me wrong.
