"You're sick"
"I cannot even fathom how you are my daughter."
"You're worthless, no one will ever love you."
My dreams taunted me as I tried to gain my breath. The rustling of the leaves were rougher and harsher than they were very early this morning. I look around and see all my things, which is only a string bag of girly necessities such as clothes, deodorant, shower stuff, and other things like that.
The red camping lantern next me started flickering, the batteries probably running out. I checked the time on my iPod. It's the only thing out of my crappy possessions that I actually worship. Found on a rock on a hiking trail, this iPod 3 was shattered to death. But whoever owned it had good music taste, which I praise. My trustworthy mp3 made everything ten times more serious when it showed that the time wasn't an early five a.m. but an eight thirty.
I have got to get out of here. If I don't move quickly a nearby pack could pick up on me and track me down because a rouge is such a "big threat". I can understand that in some cases people like me can form armies and rebel against those more fortunate than us, yet, a lot of us are just trying to survive. At least that's what's happening in my case.
I snatched up my lantern and solar charger which was fortunately charged up from soaking in the sun for the past few hours. I threw them in the abnormally large string bag along with the blue ragged blanket. I then pulled the string of the bag, securing everything inside. I pulled on my black sweatshirt that I was using as a pillow and put the bag on my back.
I looked around to make sure that I didn't leave anything. As days and days go by, I've lost more of more of my stuff from a pair of socks to a pair of sneakers. Everything was valuable and losing something was a huge loss. Also, I don't want nearby wolves to find my things and pick up my scent. They will notice that it is only mine and quickly realize that I'm a rouge which will not end well.
Seeing as I left nothing I started to make my way through the forest, opposite of the way I came before. The sky was darker today. The clouds gray, showing that it will rain soon. Everything seemed to be dead. I passed dead plants and fallen down trees. Birds sang slow depressing tunes; others mocking them, singing them even louder as if they were trying to show off.
I don't see how I ended up here anyway. I went from having everything to having nothing. Usually people become rouges because their pack got destroyed.
I wish my pack got destroyed so I wouldn't feel completely alone in this situation. There would probably be another one of my past pack members wandering the forest like me, yet there isn't. They're in their perfect log homes with their huge meals cooked for them every night. They stuff their bellies and make their way to the parlor to let it all digest while their maids, who are rouges, do all the cleaning.
Now I notice how sick everyone was. They only cared about themselves. So much for "pack comes first, everything else second". They would do whatever they could to protect the pack if it meant they had security. Even banning a teenage girl, an alpha's daughter, a soon to be Luna. I looked back up at the sky; it seemed to get darker and darker with every step I took further into the forest.
"Hey!"
I jumped into the nearest bush, hiding from anyone that could see me. I noticed that the sound wasn't near me but rather came from where I was walking away from.
"Jerry?! Did you find anything?!" another masculine voice screamed back. I tightened my shoelaces as I listened; I want to be prepared if I have to make a run for it.
"Yeah, man. I know for sure that the new scent came from here, I swear. There's just nothing here but it probably moved." the first guy said back. I cringed in disgust when he used the word "it". Honestly, I'm human too.
"Nathan said that we have to get it and bring it back. It could be a threat and it needs to be stopped." Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit. I pulled my string bag tighter around my body so it wouldn't fall. I put my hood on my head and pulled the strings, hiding my identity to anyone. I stared sprinting further into the forest, hoping I wouldn't get caught. I can't die this way. If I was going to die I wanted at least someone to care for me. I didn't want to be unknown from the world. Someone has to care.
"It's going west! And quickly, c'mon!" Jeremy or whatever his name is said. I could hear in the distance them running in my direction. Twigs and branches kept snapping and each passing second, they got louder. I started to run for my life, tears pooling down my eyes. I want my mom, I want her to hold me and tell me everything's going to be okay. But that will never happen.
"Stop!" one of them screamed but I just kept running. My legs started to burn and my sides started to cramp up by the lack of water in my system. My body wasn't physically prepared for this. I could feel myself getting slower and slower. My sneakers were giving me blisters on my feet and the jeans I was wearing made it harder for me to move.
I looked ahead to see a cliff was coming, at the bottom was water.
You have to make a quick decision Belle. Take the chance of dying or not but by your choice or go with those guys and most likely get killed slowly.
...cliff it is.
I started to run as fast as I could, the cliff coming closer and closer into view. The sudden stop if land seemed like a haven to me, deciding how the rest of my life will turn out, legitimately life or death. I was so close to the cliff, only a few steps away, when I was tackled to the ground. Someone's heavy body laid on top of me, their breathing quick and deep as they tried to catch their breath.
I started to thrash under them, trying to wiggle my way out. Before I could make any progress, the man forcefully grabbed my arms together and put them above my head. He flipped me over so he could see my face and before he could ask any questions, I spit in his face.
"You sick shit." he mumbled. He put both of my hands in one of his and lifted his other arm. I took one deep breath before his fist collided with my face, knocking me out cold.
