Part 5
A few days later, I was in my flat getting ready to meet Harry Styles for coffee. Shit, that just sounded so surreal. He was so famous, yet he was meeting me for a coffee at my local Costa, where I also work part time.
This was such a big step for me. I didn't ever meet boys for coffee, so the fact that I was meeting Harry Styles was almost ridiculous. But I guess, it proved that I had moved on so much since I moved to London. So many questions were running through my head as I was doing my make up. Would he have body guards? Would he be in disguise or something? I didn't know what to expect.
I'd kept our texting conversations pretty simple, as when we first met, I was stupidly drunk and I couldn't remember much from that meeting. So I thought I'd just keep things nice and easy, so when we met it wouldn't be awkward.
My flatmate Nicole knocked on my bedroom door. 'Come in Nic, I'm just finishing my make up.' I said.
She walked in and plonked herself in the middle of my bed. 'Lucy this is so crazy, I can't believe you're getting ready to meet Harry Styles for a date!' She exclaimed.
'Oh my god Nic, it is sooo not a date. Well not in my eyes anyway. God knows what he's thinking, wanting to meet me. Probably feels sorry for me.' I replied, gloomily. Nicole got off the bed and sat in front of me. 'What are y-' I started. 'YOU are gorgeous! YOU are confident! He wants to meet YOU!' She shrieked in my face. Alright, I'll admit it, she made me feel better. Nicole always did, she was a great flatmate. I laughed, 'Thanks for that confidence boost babe, I needed it. Shit, I better get going, it's almost five to three!'
I'd arranged to meet him at 3. I got my things together, my little bag, phone and keys, and put my shoes on. 'Good luck Luce, text me as soon it's over!' Nicole said.
'I will hun, see you later!' I called.
As I walked down the road to Costa, my heart was beating ridiculously fast. I didn't know why, I wasn't a fan or anything, but it was the fact that after meeting him, I'd google searched him, and it had sunk in how famous he actually was. I felt so inferior to him. I know you're not meant to judge before getting to know someone, but I couldn't help wondering why on earth this ladies man wanted to meet me.
I approached Costa, and in the window seat was a curly haired lad scrolling through his iPhone. I pushed open the door, he saw me, and stood up. I walked over, heart beating so fast. 'Hi,' he stuck his hand out, 'I'm Harry. Remember me yet?' His face changed beautifully as he smiled at me.
I stared at his hand. Slowly, I carefully shook it and we sat down, 'Hi, I'm Lucy. And sort of. That night is still sort of a blur to be honest. You're lucky my friend recognised you in the pictures in the press, I wouldn't have even known.' I said to him. As he took a sip of his drink, I realised he'd also got me a coffee. I had to admit, he was incredibly gorgeous, and I was definitely attracted to him. However my mum has always said that good looks don't mean good personality.
'You didn't know who I was?!' He faked a really offended tone, and I laughed. I looked around the shop, 'Don't you have any bodyguards or anything with you? I asked him.
'Nah babe, I don't get recognised as much as people think. I can nip to the shop and stuff, and it's only if a fan or someone tweets about my location, then things start to get a bit crazy.' He explained. He was staring at me in a really weird way. 'Why are you looking at me like that?! Is there something on my face?' I questioned him frantically. He shook his head out of the strange trance he seemed to have been in, and laughed.
'No, sorry, I just couldn't help it. You're just so damn attractive, that's all. I keep remembering our taxi ride home, and it just made me want to see you again.' Harry said, smiling.
This was so embarrassing. I could hardly remember the taxi ride, I had no idea what I'd said to him.
What could I have possibly said or done, to make Harry Styles want to see me again? And shit. He just called me attractive.
