The Heart Wants What It Wants

One

"Did you miss me?" A familiar voice whispers in my ear and I smile, turning around and facing Jack.

"When did you get back?" I ask, looking into his eyes. I missed him so much after he left to be with his daughter but I understood why he left. I kindof made him anyways.

"Just now"

"Not that I'm complaining but why did you come back?" He smiles at me, his blue eyes shining as he answers.

"Allie missed being here and I missed it too, and you" He leans down and kisses me gently, my hand snaking around his shoulders as I kiss him back. Like normal there is no fireworks or stars as we kiss but there is some fluttering in my abdomen region and I can't help but smile into the kiss.
There's an awkward cough and I reluctantly break the kiss and look over Jack's shoulder to see Jane Rizzoli looking down at her feet.

"I should go" Jack says, breaking the silence that falls over us for a few minutes.
"Ok" I whisper, leaning up and kissing him quickly "Text me later" I say once I've pulled away. He nods, smiling as he leaves my office.

"So Jack's back" Jane says as I sit in my chair.

"So he is" I smile, looking up at her. "Did you come down to tell me something? Or do I ignore the diamond on your finger?" I say nodding towards her left hand. She holds it out for me to look at it. "So you're leaving then?" I ask, hoping my best friend does not leave me here with these people.

"No, I haven't said yes yet" She says softly. "I don't want to leave" I nod and pull the case file off the pile of folders and hand it to Jane.

"Strangled" I say as I give it to her "But that wasn't the cause of death" She looks up at me confused before continuing reading down the paper.

"Why would someone strangle her after she's already dead?" Jane asks. "Rat poison?" I nod and click a few buttons on my laptop before turning it to her.

"There's been four reported murders in the last 2 months with the same M.O."

"So he Poisons them and then Strangles them? Why not just posion them and make it look like an accidental death?"

"You're the detective" I tease her. She sighs frustratedly and hands me the folder. "And it can't be the same person unless they put the wrong guy away"

"Are you serious?" She groans stomping her foot, "There goes dinner" She sighs, walking out of my office. I chuckle and pick up my phone as it buzzes. 

Dinner tonight?  Allie wants to see you

I smile as I read the text and quickly reply with a 'Would love too'. Jane pokes her head back in the doorway. "Go home Maur, I'll call you if we need anything" I smile up at her and nod. She smiles back before disappearing again. I grab my jacket and bag, standing up and straightening my dress. I shrug on my jacket and pull my hair out of the collar. 

What time?

I head for my car and drive home. I'm pulling into my driveway when my phone vibrates again and I grab it out of my bag after stopping my car.

6 oclock ok?

I climb out of my car and lock it before making my way up to the front door. Unlocking the front door I check the time

5:00

An hour to get ready. I dump my bag and keys, shutting my front door and heading for the shower.
