Ch VI:-

DANIEL SEEMED SATISFIED WITH HIMSELF as he smiled while walking to his house.

It was located somewhere he knew that no angel can find if heaven decided to chase him down here- and so far he hasn’t seen any.  Even if they did and they somehow found him, they’d have a hard time getting to him. With his whole gang behind him they won’t capture him without a fight.

His progress with Greta Gallagher was going well and they had arranged for another date next Saturday. He was off shift that afternoon and they were meeting outside the music store.

Thinking about the drum kit boy who was laughing with Greta just jumped onto his head. He wished that he knew his name just so he can curse it. ‘See you Monday’ Greta had said to him. What is that supposed to mean? He hoped she only meant school... for his sake.

Uninvited pictures of him and Greta came crashing into his head. Paranoia and anger filled him as he burst into his room and paced. He was going to ruin that boy’s life so bad that he wished he will never see light again, only the burning fires of hell.

Gray walked into their house, thoughtful of how the day so far went. Ever since they had come he found himself doing this every time something bothered him. It was that time with Greta in the music store and that man had walked in. He couldn’t have been more than 19 years old, but he did not look (or feel) like the type of guy that Greta should be dating, especially when she is so vulnerable.

“Hey kiddo” Viola said from the couch. “Something on your mind?”

Gray looked up at her and looked as if he didn’t understand him. “I’m fine” He said blankly as he set his foot on the first step of the stairs.

“You sure?” Viola stood up and walked towards him “You look kind of dead."

Gray smiled “Not everyone is as cheery as you Viola” He ascended the stairs.

Walking straight towards his window and looked at the house across from him. They had deliberately moved across the road from Greta to keep an eye on her.

She wasn’t home yet, Gray guessed. He wondered about her date and if she was safe with him. He wanted to turn into an angel and fly above her, but the risk of Greta being a nephlim means that there would be a possibly of her seeing him, and they would be discovered. He was under orders to keeps a safe distance from her.

But would that mean that he can't befriend her? Meeting her at the music store allowed him to know her more. Even though it wasn't much (the seraphite didn't allow him to find him out find out either) he concluded that she was a nice person and it would be nice if they were at least friends.

For about 2 hours of reading, Gray looked up to see Greta enter her room on her phone, occasionally rolling her eyes at something that either annoyed her or something that she didn't really care about. Something made Gray wonder who she was talking with and what they were talking about. What about it made Greta seem like she wanted to hang up and do something else.

About a moment later she finally hanged up and grabbed a night gown from her cupboard and began undressing. Gray's eye's widened as Greta took of most of her clothing. For some reason, he found it almost impossible to look away from the the window and forget her slender back.

Everyone knew that angels had taken most traits from humans, but whether they had their hormones remained a mystery. It seemed to Gray that it was likely that they had. The way that angels have always been tempted with humans.  May be God was testing them.

Gray shook the thought away. He was only here for a mission, he shouldn't be wasting time, sitting here thinking about such things. All he was supposed to think about is Greta and her well-being. He needed an excuse to watch her and if he was completely honest, he didn't care if he was allowed to be friends with her. He didn't care about the laws of heaven, he'd given up on understanding them a long time ago. He liked his job of looking after humans and he was assinged to look after Greta. If the higher ranks did not like the  way he done things then they shouldn't have assigned this job to him. On monday, he would approach Greta and befriend her for her safety. He would find out more about her and they may become very close friends.
