"Billions of years ago, there was an explosion, creating everything we have come to know and love. One day, evil rose from the forming land and boiling lava. Some say that the constellations tried to banish it, but their souls were broken up and shot in the sky. The evil we know now, humans call demons. Not all demons are bad. Familiars are demons, and don't hurt us. We have grown to respect each other. The other kinds of demons live among us in hiding, trying to find our weak spot. You are being trained to find these, and kill them. Some, are more powerful than others, all kill without thinking. It's in their blood. So starting now, you will work to kill them all." A teacher told the training camp. Riku stood up.
"I respectfully disagree. Sure, some demons are cold hearted. Familiars aren't the only friendly demons in the world. Rumors have it that Satans nephew is working with the military."
"Do you seriously believe that? Your pulling that out your ass." Lucy snapped. "Even if that is a real rumor, how did you find out?"
"It's complicated." Riku mumbled, sitting down.
"Why would the nephew of the most evil being alive help the military?!" Wendy laughed. Riku pulled his hood over his head.
"Just forget I said anything..." He said.
They were in a large cabin in the middle of nowhere. It was very cold with a light layer of snow on everything. Frost blurred the windows, and everyone was in many layers of clothing. A large fire lit up the whole room. It was the only heat in the building, so everyone would be sleeping in that room. Since there was no pollution nearby, the stars shown brighter than ever. It was about 10:00 at night, and everyone was tired and ready to go to sleep. The teacher left to sleep in his heated car.
"It's so cold..." Lucy complained.
"Suck it up." Todd snapped. "Your not the only one here that's freezing."
"Riku's hair is frosting over." Wendy teased.
"For the last time, it's my natural hair color." Riku sighed.
"How did you even get here? It's only like your first week." Lucy added.
"Listen you mega bitch, there is a lot you don't know about us, so just shot your big mouth. How did you even get here?" Craig asked.
"Quick! Count to ten without using your fingers!" Todd commanded. Lucy shut up.
"I have an idea." Lisa said, trying to break up the fight. "How about we all go around and tell why we want to become exorcists."
"Kevin and I are going to avenge our grandparents." Craig said. "They were exorcists, killed by a level 90 demon."
"Yeah..." Kevin yawned.
"I just want to make this world a better place." Lucy said.
"I'm with her." Wendy added.
"I just want to see demons suffer." Todd explained.
"I'm only doing this to make my parents proud of me for once..." Fred explained sadly. The room went silent except for the crackling fire.
"How about you?" Wendy asked Riku.
Riku hesitated. "I want to kill them all. I want to make sure there are no demons left on this sad excuse for a planet, and when I'm done with that, I'm going to kill Satan himself." He clenched his fist in anger, remembering all that Satan had done.
"You? Kill Satan?" Lucy laughed. "I hope this is a joke."
"There's a lot about me you don't know..." Riku snapped. That only made Lucy laugh harder. Wendy joined in.
"How is that possible? No one has ever been able to touch him." Kevin said.
"I know something he doesn't." Riku mumbled. He instantly regretted saying anything.
"What?" Wendy laughed.
"That's personal..." Riku said.
"You don't have anything. Do you?" Lucy added.
"Leave him alone." Lisa snapped. Riku stood up, and left the room. It was much colder in the long hallway. Riku went up a set of stairs and walked into an empty room with a large window. He sat down in front of it, frost was forming on his hoodie. Ice covered the wood floor. The door closed behind Riku, creaking, and than slamming. The room had absolutely nothing in it. He could barley hear the others talking below him. Riku felt like his blood was freezing inside him. He opened the window, and jumped on the soft snow. He walked into the dense forest and sat against a tree. He watched the clouds drift by. Riku noticed that the teacher's car was gone, but didn't think much of it. The snow sparkled in the moonlight, and the shadows of the forest hid Riku completely.
"I know you don't like me, because of the Satan thing... But I want him gone just as much as you..." Riku told the constellations. As expected, there was no answer.
"Your a liar!" A sharp voice said.
"Why should we trust you?" A soothing female voice added.
"Because... He has effected me too. I want to kill him." Riku explained. "He has killed too many, and made me a monster."
"Why?" Another voice asked.
"Because he wants me to join him." Riku responded.
"Why?" The same voice asked again.
"... I don't know why he wants me on his side..." He admitted.
"He wants you on his side because he knows you are the only one who can possibly hurt him." The female voice explained.
"I know that... I'm the only thing alive that can survive an attack by him..." Riku mumbled.
"Why are we talking to him?" The first voice asked.
"I don't know." The female voice admitted. Everything went quiet.
"You still there?" Riku asked. No answer. There was a long silence where he was just thinking. Riku had ignored the freezing temperatures, and was beginning to feel cold again. He shivered as snow fell on him from a higher branch. His breath disappeared several seconds after he breathed. He guessed it was several degrees below zero. A human would die out here within an hour. He lit a small fire in his palm for at least some light. He felt weird without his scarf and mask. Riku noticed a few decorations on a nearby tree. They were mostly sparkly string wrapped around it, red balls hanging from the branches, and a paper mâché star on top.
"What the hell is that?" He wondered aloud. He thought it was disgustingly cute.
