Sorry that this was updated so late, I've been getting ready for school and school has just started. Shout Out to PANICBECAUSEPHAN for writing this chapter.

    Phil's POV:

Dan and I are sitting in a little coffee shop, holding our warm drinks between our hands and just looking at each other. He's so cute. No, Phil. You don't have a crush on him.

"Hey, Dan," I say with a smirk.

"Oh, god. What?" He asks.

"Your hair is going curly," I giggle.

"Shit!" He exclaims.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"My hobbit hair is probably the ugliest thing to grace my head,

" Dan says."Nah, I think it's adorable," I tell him.Did I really just say that? I just told him that his hobbit hair is adorable. Great, he'll find out I'm gay and run away, never wanting to be friends with me. At least if I tell him I'm straight it'll be half the truth. Sort of.

Dan and I sit in the coffee shop for another 20 or so minutes, talking about the most random crap ever. I hear Dan's phone beep from his pocket and he pulls it out.

"Sorry, it's my mum. I need to reply to her text," he apologizes.I nod at him, hoping that came across as okay.

"My mum wants me home in 45 minutes. She needs help cooking dinner or something," Dan tells me.

"That's fine. Would you like to go to the park first and then go back home?" I ask.

"Yeah, sounds great!" Dan accepts.

We throw our now empty cups into the trash, and walk out into the cool breeze.

"The park is just five minutes from here," I tell Dan.

"Sounds good," he replies.

We head off to the park, side by side, our shoulders barely brushing.

"I can't believe you've never been on a swing before!" I exclaim to Dan while we're exiting the park.

"I was always scared of them when I was younger," Dan replies sheepishly.

"Well, you've been on one now!" I say.

"I guess I have," he replies with a wink.

The next couple of minutes on the way home are spent silent until Dan crosses the road.

"Dan! Wait!" I yell. But it's too late.

Bang! A car hits the side of Dan, Dan tumbling over and hitting his head on the road. The driver just drives off. Asshat.

I run onto the road where Dan is laying, bending down to see if he's okay. People around stop their cars and get out, coming to help me.

"I'm calling the ambulance," an elderly woman tells me.

"Thank you so much," I reply.

"Hello! There's a teenage boy just been hit by a car on this road. The driver just left without stopping,"

I hear the woman say into the phone. A few seconds later she hangs up and tells me the ambulance is on it's way.

"Thank you again," I tell her.

"Would you like me to stay with you boys?" She asks politely.

"No, no. It's quite alright. I'll just call his parents and meet them at the hospital," I say.

"Okay! Good luck!" She says, and heads back to her car.

 -Hospital-

I'm sitting in the waiting room hospital with Dan's parents. We've been here for about an hour.

"Hello, are you the Howells?" A nurse asks, walking into the room.

"He's just a friend of Dan's," Dan's mum says, gesturing towards me.

"But yes, we are the Howells."

"Are you the one that was with Dan when he got hit?" The nurse asks me.

"Yes, I was," I tell the nurse.

"Okay, you may stay," the nurse starts.

"Dan is in a coma, there are no major injuries, he just has a broken arm and he'll have a concussion when he wakes up. Consider him very lucky."

"Oh thank God," Dan's dad says.

"Would you three like to come see him?" The nurse asks.

"Yes!" Dan's mum says, standing up and following the nurse.

We walk down a couple of plain, white hallways and stop in front of a door. The nurse pushes open the door then lets us in the room, closing the door and giving us privacy after.

 Dan's POV:

I don't know what's happened to me. I can barely make a coherent thought. I just hear voices and machines swirling around in my mind. I can't wake up. It feels like I'm walking through never ending fog and I'll never get out.

"He looks so peaceful like this," I hear someone say.

"He does. I just really hope he'll wake up soon," I hear a woman agree.

I'm trying. Trying so hard. But, all I see is black.

"I feel so guilty," I hear who I think is Phil say.Was Phil with me?

"Don't feel guilty," I hear the woman say to Phil.

"It wasn't your fault. You did try to stop him, but he was the one that walked across the road without looking."

"O-okay," Phil stutters.

"Would you like me to leave so you can have some alone time with him?" I hear Phil ask.

"We were actually going to give you some alone time," the man says.

"Oh, no! I can leave," Phil says.

"No, you deserve to stay with him for a bit,"the woman says.

I hear footsteps and a door click shut.Someone wraps their hand around mine.

"Please, please wake up," Phil says through sobs, gripping my hand tightly.I want to answer. All I can do is lay here and listen.

"I hope you know how special and great you are. I've only known you for a small amount of time and I feel like I've known you forever. I feel like we're best friends. You're like the best friend I never had. I don't know what I'd do if you died," Phil rambles.Phil. I want to respond.Wake up, Dan! My mind tells me to wake up. My body says no.I feel no pain at all. It's almost bliss.

"Dan I," Phil's sobs cut him off.I feel no pain. I can hear Phil's pain, though.I need to wake up. For Phil. All I can do is sleep.

"Dan, please."The last words I hear, before I completely slip away from reality.
