It was the week before we left. We all sat down at the table for pizza and my mom and dad broke the news.
'Your dad and I have a meeting at home tomorrow evening. We also have one evert day of the week until next monday. We have to head back tomorrow morning.' My mom said.
'Wait, what? I thought we had more time! I don't want to go back yet.' I said.
'That's the thing,' she said 'we talked to Jude's mom, and she agrees with us that you two are mature enough to stay up here until Sunday and then you two can drive home then.'
'Really?!' Jude basically shouted.
My mom chuckled, 'yes really.'
We finished our pizza and we all went off to bed.

The next morning Jude and I helped my parents load their van and watched them leave the driveway. We were finally alone. We could be us and we didn't have to pretend anymore.
Jude and I spent that night down by the lake. As we layed on the dock with our heads hanging off of the end staring up at the stars, I could help but to feel like this was where I was meant to be. Like that tornado all those years ago happened just so we could be where we were at that very moment. I looked over at Jude and her eyes were closed, but she smiled so happily.
Jude rolled over and looked at me.
'Alex.'
'Yea?'
'You know how I never believed that love had existed. And how I felt that life was too cruel to get attached because when you get happy it all gets taken away.'
'Yea, I know.'
'Well, I don't believe that anymore.'
' What do you mean' I asked.
'Alex,' she took a deep breathe 'I'm in love with you. And I never want to loose you.' She looked at me with a worried look in her eyes.
'Jude.'
'Yeah?'
'I'm in love with you too. I have been since the first day we met. And every day after, I have fallen even deeper in love with you. I never want to loose you, and I don't plan on loosing you anytime soon.'
Her eyes lit up. A tear trickled down her moon lit porcelain face. She started to cry. I held her in my arms and she smiled through her tears.
'I never want to leave your arms ever again' she whispered.

The rest of that week we spent loving each other and spending ever moment laughing and falling even more in love. She was finally mine.

We packed up our bags on Sunday morning. We closed up the house and got into the truck.

We were an hour away from home when it happened. We were laughing and singing, and then all of a sudden, everything went black.

And her name was Jude.Where stories live. Discover now
