Hurt. Betrayal. Deception. Flames felt broken. She couldn't move, couldn't talk, couldn't breathe. Her eyes were dry though, she wouldn't cry in front of those people. They used her, they never cared, they just pretended all along. She wanted to shout, to kick, to punch. How could they? They were the only one she had. And then realization struck her, she was all alone. She didn't have anybody, she never had. They hated her, she thought as she stared at Mr. Ahmed. The man she looked up to as she grew up hated her, she thought bitterly. Slowly she turned toward Mrs. Ahmed who was now cautiously looking at her. She had something in her hand. A weapon. They were scared of her. THEY THOUGHT SHE WAS A BEAST!
Slowly Mrs. Ahmed moved towards her. Taking handcuffs out of her pockets, she passed them through Flames's hands.
"Why??" She choked, tears brimming her eyes. She could not keep it in anymore. The tears streamed down her cheeks as she stared at both of them, eyes searching, looking for an explanation. She still couldn't understand. She never was a violent child. Yes, maybe fighting procured her with a feeling of satisfaction but she never used her strength against others. So what made them think she was a monster?!
"We are sorry but we have to do this." Mrs. Ahmed tried explaining. "You see Flames, at midnight that is in 2 hours you'll be eighteen. We do not know what will happen then but as we watched you growing up, our scientists discovered that your DNA changed every time you got older. At midnight more precisely. If what we presumed is true, by twelve your transformation will be completed. How much you'll change, we know not but, for the safety of everybody, we'll transfer you to an isolated chamber which has been built specially for you."
"Do not worry, we won't hurt you." She tried comforting her. She knew it will never be enough. As she looked after Flames, as she watched her growing up, she started to feel attached to this small innocent child. It was her, after all who convinced the others not to kill Flames. But now, she couldn't do anything else. She just hoped Flames will understand.
Flames felt numb. No emotions. No feeling. Nothing. She just sat motionless as Mrs. Ahmed slipped the handcuffs on. Some minutes later, a vehicle parked outside the house. Fully armed men came in.
"I'm I this dangerous?!" Flames thought disgusted.
She didn't move as they injected something into her blood. As the drugs kicked in, she raised her head and stared at them. Eyes piercing through them. Red eyes. Mr Ahmed could feel goosebumps all over his body as Flames stared at him.
