Aileen awoke early and went to the stables, where she saddled up Audrey. The stable boy looked at her with concern.
"Miss? Are you healthy enough to ride yet?" The boy asked.
"What's your name lad?" She asked him crouching down to his eye level.
"Elliot." He replied. Aileen study the small boy. He has curly blond hair that covered his bright blue eyes. Freckles dotted his cherub face.
"Well, Elliot if the Laird's son should come wondering where I am tell him that he can bloody well bugger off." She said when she saw his eyes widen in fear. "Don't worry you may tell him that I told you to say that." She said smiling. She quickly got on top of her Audrey and galloped off.
Not even ten minutes after she left, Tannar came stalking towards Elliot.
"Did a lass with whiskey eyes come though here." He asked the boy. The boy looked up at him.
"The lass told me to tell you, that you can bloody well bugger off." He said timidly.
"Where did the lass go." He growled. The boy pointed towards the hills.
Tannar quickly saddled Zeke his black stallion and rode after Aileen.
*******
Quickly, he caught up to her shouting curses at her.
Aileen moved her horse into a canter, laughing as she rode away. Tannar sped up and still stringing curses at her.
"Damn it Aileen, get your arse over here!" He yelled. All he got was laughter in reply. He soon reached her where he grabbed her off of her horse. Her shriek pierced his ears.
"Get you bloody hands off me." She demanded.
"Why the bloody hell would I do that?" He demanded in return.
"Let go you insufferable oaf!" She shouted kicking and punching him as he held onto her.
"Lass if you kick or hit me one more time nothing will stop me from thrashing you." He growled in low voice. She glared daggers at him.
Tannar finally set her down when he was sure she wouldn't run. When her feet touched the soft green ground she smacked him.
"You could have bloody broken my neck!" She shouted.
"Will you shut up!" He shouted back at her. Her mouth snapped closed and glared at him.
"You are the most insufferable person I have ever known!" He continued to rant on like this for a while.
"And you are bloody mad! Stark raving mad, for that damned grab you made!" She said angrily.
Anger flared in his green eyes pronouncing the single fleck of blue in them. Before she could react he wrapped his arms tightly around her waist and crushed her body to his. Aileen looked up at him and opened her mouth she give him a peace of her mind, but he crushed his mouth on to hers in a fiercely passionate kiss.
Shock registered in her mind first, then instinct kicked in and she wrapped her arms around his neck returning kiss for kiss. Aileen quickly pulled away, pink coloring in her cheeks.
"You're much more agreeable that way." Tannar quipped with a boyish grin. Aileen's blush brightened- some with anger some with embarrassment.
"Oh!" She said with mortification while storming back to her horse. Tannar grinned as he watched her ride back to the keep. As he watch her figure disappear he turned to look at the woods, hearing male groans and shrieks of anguish. He turned his head away hoping to cease the sounds, the memory came rushing back at him.
"Oh come on Tannar nothing is going to happen!" Drustan exclaimed laughing at his younger brother by two years.
"Da said not to came out here, this is McKenna land." Tannar whispered fiercely back. Drustan just grinned like a little boy given as many sweets as he could eat.
"Are you going listen to Da when your a braw man?" Drustan asked, laughter coming through his voice. Tannar glared at Drustan with the most hate a fourteen year old can muster.
"Fine then, go but I'm not going with you." Drustan said turning on his heels towards the woods. Tannar stood watching his brother disappear into the woods. He looked around and headed in after him.
"Drustan! Drustan, come on you can't be in here!" Tannar exclaimed as he came upon a clearing where two men were holding Drustan down as another beat him.
Drustan looked at Tannar and exclaimed, "Run! Run Tannar, get Da!" as he exclaimed, the man beating him turned to see Tannar and started after him. Tannar looked at Drustan, looked back at where he came as Drustan yelled again for him to run. He looked back at the man and ran away.
As he made back to Zeke he heard a painful shriek and groan. He rode Zeke back at a gallop yelling for his father.
"Da! Drustan! In the woods! Come on!" He said quickly as he led his father back to the clearing. When the arrived Drustan's plaid was strewn across the ground along with blood but no body.
When he broke from the memory, the sun was at it zenith. He got back on Zeke and rode back still thinking back on the memory.
