Shane
I was panicking.
It was three hours past the time she was supposed to be home.
I had called her seven times, and the eighth, she finally picked up.
"WHERE ARE YOU? WHY HAVEN'T YOU BEEN ANSWERING MY CALLS? ARE YOU ALRIGHT? WHERE ARE YOU!?"
"Shane, I'm at a bar. I'm obviously not drinking. I'm just sitting here, having my ten billionth soda, and eating my fourth serving of french fries."
"Why aren't you home? Why haven't you been answering my calls?"
"Because the music is really loud, and I didn't hear it ringing. And I told you where I was."
"Why are you there?!"
"Because,"
She sighed.
"Because... why?"
There was a pause.
"Because, Shane. You remember the article I had to write about you?"
"Yeah."
"It wasn't good enough."
"So?"
"I got fired. And I'm here because I wasn't sure if I could face you about it."
"Oh, baby, you know you can tell me anything!"
"I know, but-"
"I'm coming to get you."
"Shane, I'm leaving right now."
I heard a crash, and her swearing on her end.
"Delilah, what just happened?"
"Well, ya see Shane, I went to pay, but there was a bar fight literally right there, and well, I'm bleeding."
There was a thud, and more swearing, and she said
"I might need you to come and get me now."
When I got to her, she was sitting on the curb, her upper arm bleeding. She had a bump on her head, and she explained to me when we were in the car that she got right in the middle by accident, and she hit her head.
I drove straight to the hospital, and she said to me
"Why are you all dressed up?"
I was wearing a white dress shirt.
"Band stuff."
I got her checked into the hospital, and I didn't want to leave her.
"Shane, you've got somewhere to go. I'll be okay. I promise I'll call when I need picking up."
"But-"
"Go."
"But!"
"Go!"
"Fine."
I reluctantly left her, and I went to the photoshoot for the band.
When I walked in, they all panicked.
"WHY DO YOU HAVE BLOOD ON YOUR SHIRT?! MAN, ARE YOU OKAY?!"
I looked down.
"Oh yeah. Delilah just got a cut on her upper arm. Long story. But I'm okay."
About an hour or so later, she hasn't called. I went back ver to the hospital, and I sat in her room.
They had to knock her out in order to put stitches in a cut that deep.
